July 1, 201411 yr Rob, thanks for extensive analysis. Your findings are matched with my experience with P3d. Stutter problem doesn't really related with settings or cpu power, it must be synchronization issue. I hope they can fix it.
July 1, 201411 yr Do you, Rob, see any improvements especially there? The performance improvements I'm seeing are when cloud shadows are enabled ... in V2.2 I would see anywhere from 33-50% or more drop, in 2.3 early beta the drop is much less drastic at about 12% but overall performance is down 10-15%. HOWEVER, water looks better which may be part of why I'm seeing overall performance drop. My findings are similar to other beta tester results. Cheers, Rob. Rob, you can always use Revo Uninstaller to completely remove P3D Thanks Mike, I have a similar product called SysTracer (covers files and registry entries) ... but I've been so busy I didn't run it to get before/after snapshot. Fortunately there was enough info in the V2.0 install log to point me in the right direction. Reported issue to LM also. To be honest I think we're going to see big performance gains when nVidia finally come up with some profiles and ones that hopefully include SLi. Maybe if enough of us bang on nVidia's door and say "what's up!" ;) Cheers, Rob.

I tried to find a "place" on their website (NVidia) were I can leave a message to them in order to second such demand for a dedicated profile for P3D2. Either its me or Nvidia has the user-unfriendlies homepage I have seen so far (maybe appart of Microsoft that is even worse)! There no place to leave them a message. Unbeleavable! July 1, 201411 yr Thanks again for all the insights Rob! Out of curiosity, have you tried a high TextureMaxLoad setting in 2.3 (e.g. TextureMaxLoad=30) to see if it made any difference to stutters or performance? I found it suggested in another thread on 2.2, and found it certainly had a positive impact.
July 1, 201411 yr I tried to find a "place" on their website (NVidia) were I can leave a message to them in order to second such demand for a dedicated profile for P3D2. I honestly haven't looked into nVidia driver request/feedback ... I guess I lost hope of nVidia's "priority" when I saw "Goat Simulator" getting 3D profiles in the latest driver release. It's a sad day when "Goat Simulator" takes priority over a "Flight Simulators" ... kinda makes me wonder about the state of human kind. Anyway, I'll keep testing, hopefully LM haven't crossed me off their Beta list yet ;) Out of curiosity, have you tried a high TextureMaxLoad setting in 2.3 (e.g. TextureMaxLoad=30) to see if it made any difference to stutters or performance? No, the current testing I've been doing are 100% unmodified profiles and CFGs -- all "as is" from LM -- no add-ons (not even FSUIPC). It's hard, I've been itching to get the new Orbx release and NCA patch ... but can't touch those right now in my current testing cycle. I did try these settings in 2.3 beta per LM's suggestion (removed them once tested): [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=4093 [GRAPHICS] GROUND_SHADOW_TEXTURE_SIZE=512 CLOUD_SHADOW_TEXTURE_SIZE=512 But they didn't make any difference on my system but others have reported benefits. Cheers, Rob.

Goat Simulator is a mainstream game that was also released on Steam, of course that would have a higher priority. If we don't make some noise about the matter (and all of us have to participate), I don't think they will bother.
July 1, 201411 yr Anyway, I know very few here agree with but here it is as promised. A nearly 4 minute MP4 with virtually zero stuttering at 60FPS thanks to the setting being lowered enough to maintain the 60FPS and the screen also being set to 60hz and Vsync on in P3D V2.2 Display setting. And Shadowplay being set to record at the application resolution at 60FPS Don't waste your time with the streamed version. You have to download it and play it back. I almost didn't bother to upload this because when I played back the MP4 after I recorded it. I saw stuttering and though Oh Well the only way anyone will accept this is if they come by my house and see it on my system first hand. But then I passed the playback of the MP4 right at the start for about 30 seconds and viola the stutters in the playback where gone and it was as smooth as I say it in the game play.So what's the point? My system is a high End OCed and bog standard setup as per the Guru's guides. what I am saying is, is that I find it hard to believe that any well/correctly optimized system that we main stream flight simmers use that is capable of maintaining 60fps on the lowest graphics setting on a 60hz monitor with Vysnc enabled will see a stutter free sim.https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4aX5Q3-OT6kbC1FeVRCeTFyb2c/edit?usp=sharing And I believe that LM's work on V2.3 will reduce stutters but as a result of optimizing the code for better performance. So by extrapolation lets say after V2.3 is released and it comes with great performance gains and SLI support such that I can add another GTX 780 and get the sliders further right and maintain that 60FPS then I am nearer to what we all want no stutters and high graphics setting. But no matter what if I try to push the setting beyond the point where 60 FPS can be maintained then no mater what LM did the Stutter will come back because they are a function of the hardware not the software. Not knocking P3D and I am looking forward to better performance and perhaps SLI support but with the exception of what G-sync can bring when a 60inch G-sync screen is affordable I believe we are stuck with stutters below 60FPS. One other point. I compared panning with hat switch and trackir with the same 60fps vsync on setting. No stutters with the hat switch - stutters with trackIR. We are stuck with stutters for sometime to come IMO.
