July 31, 201411 yr It's Russ White's (of Orbx fame) new independent project. I do think he chose an airport of little interest (other than to simmers who are local to it), and also agree that the level of detail for the interior is excessive. Because he worked for Orbx for so long, I think perhaps he's envisioning seeing it used with something like the Orbx "Bob" character, walking around the terminal, before going out airside and then swapping over to the plane. Not something I'm interested in doing, but each to their own I guess.

July 31, 201411 yr Hmmm big fan of his past work, notice on his website one of his partners is REX, and they are making some sort of SIM game. Maybe this will be like the SIMS after all. There has to be some reason for this madness lol, he is a seasoned developer. PS its got people talking about his new venture anyways.
July 31, 201411 yr Wow, highly realistic. Unfortunate that they chose a very small airport with regional ops, nobody can fly anything real big into there. Regionals are one of the most neglected categories in FSX, and there are a lot of us who are looking for EXACTLY this kind of airport for GA, regional and business flying. If you look at what Russ White has planned you'll see there's method to his madness. He intends to flesh out an entire region (his starting point is the Great Lakes area) with a whole series of regional airports to support flying in this area. It's really not disimilar to what Orbx has succesfully done with their mostly GA fields. That said, while the detail shown here is beautiful, I do wonder at the choice to do such detailed interiors. I like the idea of being able to see some terminal detail through transparent windows, but this seems like effort most will never really enjoy. As for what the outside will look like, you have only to look at some of Russ White's work from his Orbx days to know it'll be terrific. Scott
July 31, 201411 yr Commercial Member I think it's best for developer to avoid reading this thread, he will lose some hair, either way. I bet he worked his socks off to amaze the simmers by this level of visual realism and detail, and this is how we respond. We are animals, ANIMALS! We deserve only raw food and some peanuts. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

July 31, 201411 yr You guys don't seem to understand that you will easily be able to see this detail when you are at the gates and taxiing. This is much better than putting a flat 2d texture on the windows.
July 31, 201411 yr Here is the way I look at it, if it matters. Good for Him. I think it is awesome, and a new area of what He is doing. Smaller airports are just as good as the bigger ones. People argue, myself included, that more detail can go into something smaller, and it has more character. Nobody is forced to buy this, so negativity makes no sense. There are addons that allow you to walk around and just look at the hard work people put into their projects. You do know that orbx and I am sure He knows how to let people switch around detail levels. Good for Him. It is nice to see something other than KJFK being made, or airports like that. Flight Sim isn't always about the tubes. William Sequeira
August 1, 201411 yr Good for Him. It is nice to see something other than KJFK being made, or airports like that. Flight Sim isn't always about the tubes. I agree. And it's never about flying tubes, in my case. I only fly GA in and out of small airports. Indeed, that's why I love Orbx scenery. Whatever he is up to, I will be in line to grab it. http://forums.wdsims.com/?forum=354771 Aaron Thacker

August 1, 201411 yr I was quick to judge this as overkill until I clicked through Russ's forum. I appreciate what he is doing here. Thanks to the OP for directing me to this. Recommended viewing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d5RooXDxT0#t=212 Aaron Thacker
August 1, 201411 yr I think it looks fantastic. I remember a certain flight sim developer talking about a future possibility of actually simulating landing getting out of your plane and actually visiting the airport etc. and experiencing more of a real world environment. I think it would be fun to have such an option. Jeff 😀
August 1, 201411 yr Commercial Member Mighty impressive interior. There looks like a heck of a lot of polygons in there so I hope it won't kill fps. I visited the wdsims website after reading the first page here and thought the name Russ White was familiar. And Craig's post at the top of the second page on the forum reminded me Russ used to do work for ORBX. Wander why he's set out on his own? (I can guess though ). You should be able to get an A320 or B737 down on that runway. My local airport only has a 6000' runway and takes both types every day. www.antsairplanes.com
