DOnt think so.. with an airport this small its not like you will be able to fly the PMDG 777 into it or anything..  ^_^

I think the point is because the actual terminal is completely see through.. all glass. So it does make sense to do this.

Hey, if it proves to have a negligible impact to FSX's use of system resources, I'll be on board 100%.  Unfortunately, I fear that it will be bound to have some sort of impact and thus I'm a little wary of it.

 

That said, I've spent a lot of hours in various pc games and environments where the ability to explore a very high resolution and detailed environment is a given.  I'd welcome a next-gen sim where I could have an avatar do a walk around of a plane prior to getting in, or for example, land a float plane, taxi up to a dock, jump out and tie it up.  Or land a cargo plane in the middle of the frozen north and watch the plane being unloaded prior to taking off again.  The possibilities are endless, really.

 

So, yes, it's good that the envelope gets pushed, I guess.  Maybe it will lead to great things down the road, or the inspiration for others to achieve such.

you know I read some of the comments on here but yes I will admit...this is a small airport comprising of a lot of glass so therefore a unique project, and if it proves to perform well then why not.

 

The developer may make some of us eat our words but we will see.

It's very nice, but has nothing to do with flying an aircraft. That was my point. I guess it's just a different outlook on my part.

I'm sure there's an option in the install package to turn the interior off. Why can't people just take it for what it is? A work of art.

I seem to recall John Venema saying in an interview somewhere that this was what he foresaw as the future of his market, the idea that folks would want to land and get out to walk around the terminal. I personally thought the idea was nonsense but who am I to question the great JV? Interesting to see how this pans out.

You are correct. I read the same JV quote. I bet he still has his hands in this project somehow. As a GA-only sim pilot, I look forward to this very much.

I fully expect it will be.  Russ White has always pushed envelopes with his airports, such as the sloped taxiways and multi-levels (3) of PAKT (Ketchican, AK), and I haven't been disappointed in one yet.

 

Bottom line for me as a GA flyer is that I'm happy to support anyone doing fields of this size, especially when they've decide to focus on a region as he has.

When I land Im eager to shutdown and exit, this would be the case in real life as well. To say the future is in walking around an airport after landing is nonsense. However I do like the level of detail and in this particular example, its a glass construction and it looks great from the outside so Im a buyer!
