So what was the final verdict to the original poster's question?

I'm a big fan of Gary's work, but that grey grass is not doing it for me...

Gary's spring/summer textures do look very good for fall actually. :)

(any texture with _fa in it means fall…so make a copy of the corresponding spring/summer texture and add _fa)

:) ...imagine how the OP feels. Looks like the moderator gave us a whole lot of rope on this post.

I am sorry for bringing this topic up again, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I have decided on the Aerosoft version of Heathrow. I liked little higher quality textures of the Aerosoft version and I liked the night lighting in the Aersoft version better. My framerates for the scenery is in the mid to low 20's and I haven't had any major issues.

Now after I installed the scenery my AI planes were sunk into the ground. How can I fix this? Aerosoft said to disable the default AFCAD, but wouldn't doing that effect other airports in the area?

Should not be any need to mess with the default AFCAD, and yes it will cause problems with other airports. Maybe they said to disable any other AFCADS you may have iinstalled for EGLL

Peter Schluter

Run ScanAFD (available here in the Avsim library,) set correctly it will identify any other AFCAD's for EGLL.  Simply rename those eg. bak instead of bgl (do NOT delete them) and you should be good to go.

...and once you've sorted it, let's see some screens for comparison!

I already ran scanAFCAD. The only AFCAD it found for Heathrow was the default AFCAD. So if I rename the file Eurw AP947130.BGL (that is were the default Heathrow AFCAD is) I should be good??

The only other thing I would check is your Terrain_Max_Vertex_Level=  in your fs9.cfg.  Often developers build for default ie. 19  whereas many of us use 20 or 21 because we elect to use more accurate mesh.

Edetroit, I saw the post were you listed all those bad textures. And I wouldn't know how to fix those textures.

Unfortunately it's best you learn if you want a stutter free fast loading sim.

Download Alphasearcher and check every scenery you have for alphas and then mipmaps.

Then use DXTbmp to open and resave the textures that do not have alphas to themselves (this will add the alpha channel) …after fixing the alphas check for mips DXTbmp will fix this too (tick the mips box)

I cannot stress how important this is for a smooth fast happy FS9.

Thorsten (the maker of Aerosoft LHR) knows about this but obviously could not be bothered to check his work.

Well I could not be bothered to fix sooooo many textures either so while LHR is otherwise excellent by Thorsten I use Gary's LHR.

Oh…do not waste your hard earned cash on UUEE. :Cuppa:

I know about UUEE, but I bought it the first day it came out before the problems were known.

Although I have the FSX version of this recently bought in a sale I'm not aware of any problems with it. Please explain your comment.
