October 30, 201411 yr probably not going to help since my problem was not on task switch but I had a nasty freezing problem and I deleted my shader cache and let it rebuild and that fixed my problem. October 30, 201411 yr Hope you know your running the 777 in P3D is outside of the EULA lol. Anyway.. Are you sure its not one of the other programs running that is causing some kind of conflict with P3D. I go in and out of the program all the time(finding stuff to listen to while flying) and I haven't had any issues. PS I hope the 744 is out by Christmas, as I think I'd make a good gift for my father he's a retired United 744 Captain ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170
October 30, 201411 yr PS I hope the 744 is out by Christmas, as I think I'd make a good gift for my father he's a retired United 744 Captain Yeah I plan to retire from the v1 744 so it would make a nice gift for me too .I am looking forward to possibly taking a trip on a real world BA 744 sometime soon to visit friends in London, that is my favourite and airliner and my biggest dream at this point in time lol. October 31, 201411 yr As long as we are talking dev env, Rob, did you figure out how to get rid of the annoying "Prepar3D has triggered a breakpoint" about 4 times in the startup? It seriously slows me down when checking my stuff :/ --Peter Fabian
November 4, 201411 yr Funny I replied to this thread now I'm having nearly the exact same problem. Only thing I touched settings wise was the shadow settings and my mouse driver updated. As I recall one of the devs had said something in regards to the first few runs of the sim that it's building the shaders. Not sure if this is the problem though... strange as I haven't ever had this problem. As soon as I click the desktop or anywhere out of the P3D window I get a freeze for a few seconds... Steve McNitt
November 4, 201411 yr Author Commercial Member Steve- If you happen to come across a solution- please remember to come back and fill me in. I have reached out to LM Support... No reply after two weeks... Not surprising- we have a half dozen support requests in and no replies yet. We actually have 777 and NGX development for P3D on hold now because of the issues we are seeking help with... ) I have tried everything short of a full windows format- which would seem a bit extreme. November 4, 201411 yr I think you should look into your debug tools. Can you please post, which tools you use? I heard of such problems before and i remember it was related to some debugging software. Or can you just try and run your sim without those debugging tools at all? Tebin Ulrich
November 4, 201411 yr Author Commercial Member Tebin- The problem is unrelated to the development tools, as it is present whether or not the tools are in use or not... and whether the tools are installed or not.. To this point I have stripped the machine down of all hardware, drivers etc... No change. I am seeing it on two machines that are completely different as well... Still trying to determine the commonality between them, as this might yield clues. Ryan very graciously sent me the same reply we sent to users who have "one off, very odd hardware based problems." I think we are going to make him work Christmas this year. Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
November 4, 201411 yr Maybe its just in combination with a certain OS and P3D with that version. Other than that, i dont know. Sorry But I am sure, you guys will figure it out in no time Tebin Ulrich
November 4, 201411 yr Hello Robert. There is a Microsoft product called adplus which is used for these hanging situations. You will find the download of the Microsoft debugging tools at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg463009.aspx and more information about this tool is available at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/286350 or http://support.microsoft.com/kb/286350/EN-US/Always use the 32-bit Version of Microsoft Debugger since Prepar3D is a 32-bit program, even if a 64-bit Windows is used. For this, download the Microsoft SDK and in the Installation Wizard under "Redistributable Packages", select "Debugging Tools".After the installation, you must go to the following directory so that you can install the 32-bit version from WinDbg:C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\Redist\Debugging Tools for Windows\dbg_x86.msi Execute the file dbg_x86.msi to start the installation. You will then find "adplus.exe" in the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Debugging Tools for Windows (x86)\adplus.exe you must set adplus with the following command BEFORE the crash: adplus -hang -pn Prepar3D.exe -quiet -o c:\temp This creates a directory of type "Crash_Mode_Date_*" in the output directory (-o). (in this case C:temp\ The Windows debugger should be able to nail down the responsible files. Hope this can help.. November 4, 201411 yr Rob, Steve, y'all guys running 2.4? I still have my 2.2 installation and haven't seen anything similar. I'm willing to try out your configs to see if I can replicate it on either 2.2 or 2.4 --Peter Fabian
November 4, 201411 yr Commercial Member Have you tried right clicking the mouse in the window when you go back - I seem to recall it helping with some DX10 focus issues. Steve Parsons My FSX Analysis Blog
November 4, 201411 yr This almost sounds to me like you system could be low on resources. CPU and/or memory usage spiking. And whatever is causing it, probably software, leads to said symptoms. Check resource monitor and see if there is anything out of the normal. It could be worth checking HD utilization too. Are you running on an SSD or mechanical drive? Edit: Silly question. Do you have P3D running with admin rights? David Graham Google, Network+, Cisco CSE, Cisco Unity Support Specialist, A+, CCNA

I just tried switching between v2.4 and google chrome with an active flight running and I don't get any stutters whether I pause the sim or not. Maybe something to do with the T7?
