They made a deal with Flight one... So why not us and all the others?

So why not us and all the others?

I think that "mgh" has actually answered that for you, albeit he came across quite abrupt.  I assume that they have negotiated, probably for a whole cart load of money, an exclusive deal with Dovetail.  This kind of deal is bad news for simmers everywhere.

While i quite like Steam as a distribution platform i won't be giving Dovetail a single penny of my money.

Maybe DoveTail has a reason for that, don't you think?

Is  DoveTail expected to make  deal with all the other 3rd developers - remind me how many are there?.

I think it's been mentioned that DoveTail are only using FSX Steam thing as a Revenue building exercise to put against a new Flight Sim Game/Hobby platform.

Maybe I'm wrong but Flight 1 offers a one stop shop for "almost" everything?

Enough maybe to keep the Newbies happy. So in other words DoveTail only have to deal with one Company/person

There's no more than 15 -20 devs in the world. Probably less.

The fact remains that if DTG wants to sell lots of product, they're better off with us in the bed than not. Even a single form letter response is better than nothing.

Dovetail is well aware of large 3rd party ecosystem can't see them limiting most fsx add ons. Sure couple won't work but the Carendo planes work and photoscenery works I am good to go. Sure, dovetail will help most 3rd party developers for fsx.

Milviz - Have you given any thought to the fact that DG might be using Flight1 to test the waters before getting into more distribution contracts? This makes good business sense since they are forwarding a 6 year old simulator and it's DLC. I know that if I were to try a new product or service, I would limit the marketing and acquisition expense until I was sure it was a valid move. Think about it.

I think if we all be patient for a couple of months we'll see which direction this is going to take.

Thank you.

Rick

That may well be true. Nonetheless, a response of any kind would be nice.

As a dev with some diplomatic issues I'm well aware of what it means to be completely ignored.

Hence even the most difficult client gets responded to.

I know it may sound like I'm whining here but I'm not. I'm complaining a bit and staying a fact. Like the other devs mentioned here, we're concerned about the lack of communication.

Dovetail don't have to communicate with anyone - especially those making unsolicited communications. It will communicate only to those it wants to.

You're absolutely right. That, however, will make it much harder for YOU, the client, to get quality addons that are going to work in their products. Again, look at what happened with Flight...

I guess we can only sit back and see what happens. You may end up being glad that they ignored your emails

Maybe DoveTail doesn't care about Milviz add-ons, and that it has a different corporate model to Flight?

Do you think  Dovetail paid Microsoft to licence FSX without  knowing the history of Flight - every one else did?

The whole point is to make a better sim for all of us. Including you.
