Coming back to life . . .   I've been revamping over at www.toposim.net and have recently made available my first major release in a few years, North Africa, 19m/LOD11 coverage from Western Sahara t

Without judging in lack of further facts, this is a tragic story. I still recall Justin from FS 5 (or something like that) Tyme as one of the first addon developers ever, freeware of course. Together with a hand full of others, he was the first to detect the hooks for programming addons for the MSFS series when no one even thought about a publicly available SDK. He was giving others a very generous hand via alt.games.microsoft.flight-sim.

I was following his rise and fall over the years as a FSGenesis buyer. I fear, he lacked a less good hand for business decisions, and galaxy memberships are a very dangerous area indeed. You make a good income for a short time, but are condemned to deliver for the rest of your life. I still don't understand why he doesn't work with one of the big players like FSDT, ORBX, Aerosoft who could take the business part and just let him deliver - which I am sure he can.

Anyway, should I ever come across an FSDT or ORBX airport with the name Justin Tyme on it, I will meet it with sympathy.

Kind regards, Michael

I have a full set of FSGenesis mesh from when FSX first came out.  I don't Justin personally but have read his tales of woe more than a few times and I just shake my head.  He must be one of the worst businessmen of all time....first he sold lifetime subs (always a bad move....just ask your local gym) then when income dried up he begged for money and changed the plan (to some degree but I forget how much).  The sale of a business with nothing in writing is just laughable....you don't need a lawyer but at least put everything down in writing and have both sides sign it.   Any now the homeless broke part....he is a good programmer, surely there are jobs in the US for people who are good a programming....anyway, I wish him all the best but I wish he would take the obvious and easier route.  As for the current FSGenesis, no thanks, if I was to upgrade my mesh it would be the FS Global stuff.

Man, it seems like Justin has really hit the bottom. I sure hope he can make a decent living again, whether it is with flight simming related stuff or otherwise. FSG was very well established and known brand in FS community and I also agree that he made bad business desicions by releasing cheap memberships. Subscription would be okay, but life time membership for a hundred bucks? That surely dries out the income sooner than later.

I hope he can clear things up with the FSG sale and perhaps get the ownership back. I would really like too see Justin again on the helm of FSG, I have nothing bad to say about the products or customer service back in the day. I even miss all Justin's rants about the difficulties few years ago

1. Says he was a taxi driver once.  Should immediately get a job with Uber to get an immediate cash flow and have flexible hours for development.

2.  Contact all the airport developers and work as a contract to fix airport elevations as they are released.

Continue offering his services to fix simmer's favorite airports.

Life is hard, been in his shoes, but one can work there way out of it if they have the desire.

Justin has always been a class act but, as others have noted, not the best businessman. I really hope he can get it together again - his products were excellent as was his support.

Meanwhile, I personally will tell everyone that I contact to boycott FSGenesis  products under the current management.

This should of course read "lacked a good hand for business decisions". I think there once was an Edit button at AVSIM being gone now :(.

HI Guys,

I really appreciate the moral support.  Thanks.

Clutch, yeah I'm registered with Lyft, but the closest service area is a four-hour drive. Same with Uber.  And yes, of course I am open to any contract work, but cash flow is a real problem at the moment, so don't have the luxury of waiting for checks.  Down to my last $95 at the moment.

Funds from orders through Toposim, however, are immediately available. To sweeten the pot I have just activated a 30%-Off coupon exclusive to readers of this thread.  Simply enter AVSIM in the coupon box at checkout.  That brings a commissioned custom ATAP to under $20, and a completed ATAP to $3 and change.

I've found the development fire again and am eager to get this thing rolling again.  Production on any orders that come in will be initiated immediately and turnaround will be pretty quick, depending on number of orders in the queue, a matter of days at the most.

Lots of airport plateaus still out there. :)

Not at all uncommon. Those with a strong engineering / technical bent, often have little skill or patience for the day-to-day tasks required to run a business profitably.

So true, this has been played out in many different scenes over time, and will likely continue to be.  It's not a reflection of the artist, of course.

Justin,

Can you add or fix airports in P3d that lay on actual geological features, in other words stick to the georeferenced height data which in the real world is NOT flat?

Hi Chas,

If you mean make a non-flat runway, under normal circumstances, no.  The flat-runway limitation is pretty-much hard-coded. The terrain will be manipulated to conform to the shape of the airport polygon, which flattens everything within its edges.  That said, if you're not worried about AI traffic and such, yes, can make a runway that follows the contours of the terrain and use a phototexture for the runway.  This wouldn't work well for the larger airports, but might do well for cow pasture airfields.

The donation button seems to be working from here.  Does it show you the Paypal login box upon clicking the donate button?
