Thanks 😀 Not much shipping in  the Arctic Ocean in real life either, but the package actually do contain some. You will in the sim find cruise ships, fishing vessels, and patrol ships near Svalbard and the coast of Greenland. In Antartica you will find cruise ships and research ships but only in the area below the tip of South America.

Oh! Thanks for the reply Hendrik, which package do I need to install to find ships around Greenland?

Hi -- haven't been able to go through all 83 pages of this thread...but I was wondering if there was 'add-on.xml' file available for Global AI ship traffic (using P3D v4)?

Is it possible to put the files in another folder and redirect with the xml file, instead of installing all into simobjects?

Thanks.

You can install the files where you want.
Than you have to enter the paths in the corresponding cfg files.
The path of the boats folder in the SimObject.cfg,
the path of the Effect folder to Effects.cfg, and
the path of the BGL folder into the Scenery.cfg (or enter it in the Scenery library).

Whether this works synonymous via XML file I can not say, since I do not work with the XML file.

This is great, thank you. Keeps the folders clean. Here is the xml file for quick referencing --

XML example (provided by user Izamm)

<SimBase.Document Type="AddOnXml" version="4,0" id="add-on">
    <AddOn.Name>AI Ships</AddOn.Name>
    <AddOn.Description>AI Ships</AddOn.Description>

    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>SimObjects</Category>
        <Path>G:\AI_Ships\Boats</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>

    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>SimObjects</Category>
        <Path>G:\AI_Ships\Animals</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>

    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Effects</Category>
        <Path>G:\AI_Ships\Add_to_FSX\Effects</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>

    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Sound</Category>
        <Path>G:\AI_Ships\Add_to_FSX\Sound</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>

    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Scenery</Category>
        <Path>G:\AI_Ships</Path>
        <Name>AI_Ships</Name>

        </AddOn.Component>

</SimBase.Document>

Bucky (and everyone else), I can highly recommend a freeware programme called Litte NavMap. It shows all ai traffic,(planes AND boats) around your position, and that way you can see if there's any boats around ie..Greenland.

And no I have nothing to do with Little NavMap, it's just one of those addons I can't fly without today.

I don't always stop and look at airplanes.........Oh wait, Yes I do.

Has anybody had success with the XML file? Particularly the scenery section to pick up the traffic BGLs...It's registered and active but I'm not seeing any ships and that looks the most likely suspect...

...

Just a heads up that the "Lucy Borchard" container ship sailing outside Vancouver main bay area is simply going around in circles doing 'donuts' in the water and going nowhere.. someone might wanna give her a good push?! ...!

That's odd - I found her in the English Channel :)

Got the XML method to work BTW (for any P3D readers in the FSX forum...) just had to read the post by Lzamm carefully - the Scenery XML DOESN't have the scenery folder name in the XML path (as correct above), but the traffic bgls DO go directly into a 'scenery' subfolder of that path.

...

I'm trying to download Global AI Ship Traffic v1 and 200 AI Ships and AI Ship Traffic V2 but for both I get

"C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Temp\S5B8uiGw.zip.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Try again later, or contact the server administrator."

I presume it's something at the Avsim end - can you confirm please?
