Well I can't really see anything that indicated what that proc speed should show in the FSX.cfg. (If indeed it is incorrect)

 

I think it is a value which FSX writes to the config the first time FSX is run. I have never touched that value but have tweaked the other settings in the FSX.cfg obviously.

 

Try saving your current config (rename it) so you have no fsx.cfg, and restart FSX and let it build a new fsx.cfg and look at the value it calculates.  See if its any different.  Then you can revert back to your saved cfg and put in the new # if its any different.

 

Like Jim, I'm not sure if this number really does anything.

What cloud texture and weather addon are you using, is it REX, if so what textures are installed, eg HD or DX, how do you control your weather, is it ASN, if so how many cloud layers are you running, these things are required so we can start  to help you. Seattle is a Known Stutter maker and FPS killer in FSX, try another airport to test at first. Honestly speaking you will not find a magic recipe from Steve or myself or anyone here on fixing your problem, it comes from trial and error, i spent 100`s of hours testing and tweaking until i found a balance which provided a great result. Your biggest battle is your graphics card, i`m not knocking the brand but you are a minority user up against a brick wall as far as getting perfection tweaks with that setup.

 

my advice is to delete your cfg and restart again, enter 1 tweak and test it, same airport, same weather, same everything, then add the next tweak, etc and so on .

DX10 Fixer is one the most important overall improvements to FSX in my opinion and is well worth the cost.

Easy Tiger, I assume Steve has a life outside of these forums, potentially involving employment and family commitments, it's not realistic for anyone to expect 24/7 support from him. I don't imagine folks with this kind of attitude make supporting his product an easy task and at the end of the day I suspect he does so more to support the hobby than the money.

 

Ref your FSX.cfg file;

 

If you have any payware that comes with improved texture resolutions your TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD setting at 1024 could be preventing you from getting the benefit of these, setting this to 4096 would allow any high res textures to display properly without effecting low res textures. Bare in mind that if you change any graphics settings within FSX doing so will reset this value to 1024, so it's worthwhile checking occasionally.

 

Have you tested the Affinity Mask setting, a value of 14 was suggested primarily for quad core Intel CPU's restricting FSX to 3 of the 4 available cores leaving one free for processes run outside of FSX including apps such as REX etc., I don't know how well this would work with AMD CPU's.

That is a good idea. I shall take a look at that. Thinking about it I am sure I made some tweak or other in the .cfg which enables the 4 cores in the CPU.

Am going to let it create another though and see.

I have ORBX, in a couple of regions. I have acceleration. I use REX for my weather. I use REX4 for the textures.

My .cfg file normally has the value TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD = 2048. Changing something in FSX must have changed it to 1024. (I know this happens)

In my CFG it already has [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=14.

They may well complement each other but both are poor choices to run FSX/P3D.

You will continue to have poor performance relative to a good Intel/Nvidia rig.

Yeah I know. It is all down to the way FSX was coded and the architecture of AMD's CPU isn't it ?

Well i would suggest getting a Nvidia card,they work better with FSX. You are currenty using the built in GPU just doesnt give the same performance as an external card. Being a long time user of AMD CPU's i can tell you FSX works better with Intel. I cant see AMD changing things. I wish they would.

I have an i-7 4770K @ 4.4GHz and my fsx.cfg has:

 

ProcSpeed=19602
PerfBucket=7

 

About a year ago, my GPU crapped out and I borrowed my son's AMD GPU from him that was supposedly "better" (a 600 series equivalent) than my old NVidia 400 series...all my hardware was identical except for the AMD gpu and I was getting almost half the frame rates and could not get good quality graphics. 

 

Once my ordered NVidia 670 came in, I was kicking the AMD's butt by about 50% more frames and textures were crisp.  AMD and FSX just don't live well together!!

Well the first question was 8:00am yesterday.

The other on the 29th at 9pm.

Now if you read down the list he has answered other people between those times. So I am sure he could have at least acknowledged my questions ?

It does say this is a support forum. I have paid my money so surely I could get at least a reply.
