It was a shock to read of his illness and the terminal nature of it a few weeks ago.

I didn't know Tom personally but when someone provides a service like AVSIM you almost feel his personal touch when you engage with his brainchild. I first engaged with Tom and AVSIM when it was a periodical email in the days before he created the online presence.

I am saddened to hear of his passing and hope his family are comforted by the fact he has been released form any physical suffering and the mental anguish that would have invaded his remaining days.

Rest in peace Tom and all strength to those that knew you best and loved you most.

On February 25th, Tom called me from his hospital bed and told me his doctors had just given him 90 days to one year to live.  A little more than a month later he departed.  What a shock to me as he had been in recent contact with the Board Members.

Rest in Peace Tom and thanks for being such a good friend, confident, and mentor.  You will be missed by the Flight Simulation Community!   My condolences to his family and many friends.

God Bless!

High Flight by John Magee

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,

And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunwards I’ve climbed and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds – and done a thousand things

You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hovering there,

I’ve chased the shouting wind along and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air,

Up, up the long delirious burning blue

I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,

Where never lark, or even eagle, flew;

And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of god.
