Every decision this company has made over the past 3 years has been so far off base.
June 2, 201511 yr From an day to day user point of view... Windows 10 is great! As an FS9 user the last build of Windows 10 (10130) made the FS9 main menu non visible when running the sim in Full Screen mode. You can only see the menu in Windowed mode. However the simulation itself after you hit "Fly Now" works correctly in full screen mode is visible unless you want to call the in game menu via the Alt key and then the screen turns completely black. This wasn't broken in build 10122 released last week. I hope this is a temporary quirk rather than a permanent one. Anyone experiencing a similar problem to mine with Windows 10 build 10130? June 2, 201511 yr I will be getting a new computer some time this year or very early next year, so I will not be upgrading to Windows 10 now. The new computer will most likely have Windows 10.PS: For those that don't want the Windows 10 icon in your taskbar first end the task with task manager (it's GWX.exe), then delete the folder. They put the folder in the C:\Windows\system32\GWX. After you delete the folder the Windows 10 icon will not appear anymore when you turn on the computer.

June 2, 201511 yr Thanks Badfinger. I have not had any Windows updates since I delete the GWX folder, so I did not know they will put it back on my computer.
June 2, 201511 yr If true, that is absolutely ridiculous. MS can keep their Windows 10 at that point. Every decision this company has made over the past 3 years has been so far off base. Mmmm, remember, it is a service update to Windows 8.1 et al, so not surprising. Not a bad thing at all, really. So, after this, all Windows OS upgrades ends, we will have W10 being updated ad infinitum. & it will talk to Android, from what I've heard. I'm looking forward to this lot. I've a W7 as well as a W8.1 laptop. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
June 2, 201511 yr The fact that you will not be able to selectivly opt out of windows updates will be an issue, the latest Nvidia drivers are not always the best for our Sims, I never let windows update my drivers esp graphics drivers
June 2, 201511 yr I didn't think Windows update updated you're nVidia drivers, only the nVidia tool. Maybe that overwrites the Windows update feature though. It doesn't surprise me that you can't upgrade from Windows 7, only from 8.1. I imagine there are a lot of core differences which make an upgrade from 7 rather difficult Chris Smith
June 2, 201511 yr After switching to Win10 Microsoft will be able to install whatever they want on your PC. Or uninstall ... What happened to AVSIM
June 2, 201511 yr And if one follows all the publicity that Microsoft is generating in other media outlets such as the BBC website and computer magazines, anyone reading their spiel would be tempted into thinking that this was a simple straight forward transition from the current Windows7 OS to Windows 10. Now, thanks to Julian's post, we, unlike your average Joe Public, know better, what Microsoft's real ploy is. Reminds me of that old adage......'better the devil you............' Rick Almeida
June 2, 201511 yr Apparently I was wrong; from what I've read you can directly upgrade all the way from Windows XP, as long as you stick to some basics such as same bit number, language etc Chris Smith
June 2, 201511 yr Okay, I just got off the phone with MS support... The guy barely knew what Windows 10 was Hardly surprising seeing the clowns MS employs in call-centres in India, Philippines, etc who can barely speak English as I've found out before. Rick Almeida
