P3D 3.0 Speculation & General Nonsense

Intresting i stop using default atc ever since atc assign me the wrong runway base on my flight plan. I might give it a try when p3d v3 comes out.

ATC won't follow your plan to some arbitrary runway of your choice - you request it and if it's available within the circumstances of weather and AI I described, you get it if it's OK.

Generally "faults" with default ATC are made by the users misunderstanding it.

Nice to see someone else as a "fan" of default ATC!

It has its quirks, but I tried all other available ATC programs out there and they have (in my opinion!) also all quirks, so that after of years of testing I stick with default ATC as long as there is no better ATC addon.

PRO:

well integrated, I do not need other software

is aware of altitude, weather, AI Traffic

CONTRA:

- ATC "ping pong" - if you fly along ATC boundaries, you get handed every five seconds if you're unlucky.

- Isn't aware of non-US standard pressure altitudes.

- Does too late clear given altitudes - workaround is to set 10300 if you're cleared to 10000, so there you have alittle more tolerance and you aircraft doesn't level out too early.

You can even use SIDs: fly your SID and ignore the little nagging and follow then ATC if you arrive the end of your SID.

With edit voice pack you have also great ATC communications with the AI you can listen to.

ok, but completely off topic now

Thanks for clearing that up Steve. I do miss  actually listening to the default ATC when i fly.

Genuine non speculative question here:

Whats the reason or science behind LM not announcing a release date or not throwing out a teaser,   i suppose i ask this under the thinking that P3D will just arrive in the coming weeks and will be ready for download when announced.    Maybe there will be an announcement and release date given, in that case we will probably have to wait 2 months analyzing the same teaser over and over again.

Does LM make announcements like other games IE:  Date given,  Teaser released and so on and so on OR is there an announcement made and then ready for download

These things keep me away at night

Well, ok, to make sure you get some sleep, here are some facts from the past:

- October 7 2013 LM posted a developer's blog on their site about v2 and its DX 11 options. Afaik that was the first news about the new version on their site. We haven't seen any news on the site about v3 yet...

- November 20 2013 they officially announced the upcoming release of v2, saying it would be available Monday November 25 2013, so that was 5 days after the announcement. As we all know nothing has been announced yet so this probably means P3D won't be released the coming week.

Good night, sleep tight.

My educated guess is LM will sort of follow the 2013 procedures: the coming month some news about new options will be posted on their site and somewhere in November the official announcement and release date will be given after which v3 will be released late November. I certainly do not expect a sudden surprise release.

Oh rite ok,  so quite possibly only a small wait after announcement,  good stuff thank you.

And you sleep well too Jeroen

I would normally agree that the events of this release would be similar to the V2 release, but there is a different person in charge now and I have a feeling that they are just going to drop it on us on Monday. Lets face it there have been little clues knocking around even on the Prepar3D website.

I think they might be pandering to whimsical side of this community a bit with this release despite us not being the target market.

Didn't the pulled down announcement say maybe September , but maybe not? Never saw it before it was yanked.

There was no announcement. There only was a login which apparently would lead to more information about v3 but no one ever saw that. This was all you could see:

The date you see simply is the date that the login was put online and has nothing to do with the release.

BTW v2 was introduced with the line 'Performing at New Heights – Introducing the all new Prepar3D v2' after which it took 5 days before it was actually released. So 1. this could tell us v3, as expected, isn't 'all new' but more of an update and 2. they are already working on that introduction page so release may be pretty soon, sooner than November. But well, so far no one really knows, not even after 41 pages of speculation and nonsense. ;)

Let's hope this version is introduced with the words "Performing without OOMs - introducing the all new Prepar3D v3"

V3 will have a "defeat device" code that becomes aware when you're trying to test it for OOM, and automatically reduces VAS "emissions".

Would that make it P3D VW3.0?  :yahoo:
