June 5, 201610 yr Moderator P3D is the platform. LM is designing that platform according to THEIR long term interests. They have been slowly making changes in the structure of P3D and providing tools and suggestions to developers to enable them to produce content that will be compatible. They are making every effort to maintain compatibility but many things will get broken along the way. It is up to the developers to determine if it is worth the effort to update their product. The tools and guides are in place - it's their responsibility. But it is in NO WAY LM's fault that your favorite ancient mariner's boat doesn't float in P3D. I understand and sympathize but I sure wish some people would see that glass as half full as opposed to half empty. Meanwhile, I am having a great time with 3.3. June 5, 201610 yr Meanwhile, I am having a great time with 3.3. Me too and if it doesn't work with it - and not much does not, or will not for long - then I'd rather ditch that in favor of keeping v3.3 that some outdated add-on.
June 5, 201610 yr But it is in NO WAY LM's fault that your favorite ancient mariner's boat doesn't float in P3D.... ....but it is their fault that they didn't include a simple statement to that effect when v3.3 was released. It would have been very easy to state that support for SDK2002 code had been removed in v3.3, and that some existing airport addons would be affected. It's up to anyone to proceed to an immediate upgrade to P3Dv3.3 or not, upon each one criteria. A lot of people is also enjoying v3.2 as much as you do with v3.3, I guess (like me!). No discussion about that LM's P3D is the leading platform (and seems that it will continue to be so!). June 5, 201610 yr BTW, Gary also stated that the update to the new standards will take some time (probably months). Oh boy. Patience then. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090

I think the first thing someone should do before installing one of these updates, is to make sure they have a complete copy of their present version installation file. Then if a train wreck happens, just uninstall it and go back to what was working.

June 5, 201610 yr As we say in the business, Backup Backup Backup Great advice, however as far as I understand, as new users we don't have the option to download older versions. Having waited until this month to make the switch to p3d, with a new machine on order, I may have to hold off moving to p3d. Andrew Farmer My flight sim blog: Fly, Farmer, Fly!

June 5, 201610 yr I upgraded to 3.3 and have spent a few days using it flying around SOCAL. It worked fine with my addons but I can't say I noticed any significant differences On reading this thread (especially the loss of UK2000 airfields) I have uninstalled 3.3. I love P3D and fortunately I have a 3.2 archive / download ready to install tomorrow Progress is great but it's nice to know the 'cons' as well as the 'pros' when offered an upgrade. Very good suggestion!. As far as I know, airports layered with old technology dated from early 2000's are affected. This applies to the UK2000 Scenery (Heathrow, Leeds, London City, etc.). Heard that other Aerosoft airports suffer from the same issue, but doesn't know exactly which of them. It would be very good for the community to share a list of the airports affected by P3Dv3.3, to be updated frequently, according to the experience of the different users. Vic Pretty sad that we have to depend on a backup to feel confident in "updating" our sim, isnt it? None the less be labeled as "complainers" when we show concern for this tedious practice. Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson
June 6, 201610 yr Pretty sad that we have to depend on a backup to feel confident in "updating" our sim, isnt it? None the less be labeled as "complainers" when we show concern for this tedious practice. I posted on the LM Client forum last night, on a thread started by someone that said he was having a problem updating from 3.2 to 3.3 . I stated that he should make sure he has a backup of 3.2 first, since some people are having problems with 3.3, and with a backup he could return to 3.2 if he needed to. Apparently the moderators at the LM forum, decided they didn't like my suggestion, and deleted my post.
