Do we have any traffic addons in development?

Also, once you've made a collection (I never install directly into the sim - I make a dummy folder first, then copy everything over after installing) it will take you seconds to install it. No passwords, install bloatware - Just copy and paste! Whenever you upgrade or reinstall the sim - or get a new one, it will take just seconds to have it all back up and running.

I just make regular backups of my Airplanes AI folder (the one where I have installed the 15GB+ of AI plane models that I have added over the years), the Boats folder (including the Global AI Ships package), and my Scenery\World\Scenery folder (where all of the traffic BGL files are located).

  • I'm well aware of the two existing offers and also the ones I'm referring to in my original post. Maybe I just have a different mindset regarding the level of quality I expect from addons, that cost 4

  • The difference is significant. It's called damages. Other than a bruised ego, what damages have the freeware repainters and modellers suffered? I just did a youtube and  google search one one of these

  • And if you're not a facebook member you're let in the dark    Kind regards, Michael

As for dreaming of one great big AI package, I sadly believe it will never happen. It isn't a one man job, and whenever a group of people get together someone's inflated ego will start to kill the community spirit at some point. For payware developers there's the issue of copyright, trademarks etc. getting in the way of making "realistic" packages.

But then you'll have a mix of AI-files and all the other files that occupy those folders - and you're missing the effect and sound files.

I always preferred WOAI.  Not because they were free but really preferred their models.  Simple setup to work in P3D.  Yea, some of the night textures are starting to show their age but still prefer them whenever I investigate the other offerings.  I even have different eras of bgls.  Created a special one for good ol' Hong Kong's Kai Tak where I see tons of heavies from the 80's-90's taking on the famous checkerboard approach.  Then I have a 23" display I use as a flight board with Super Traffic Board.  Makes for great plane spotting.

For GA I dozens of different models for that too.  Some program I have converted them for FSX/P3D and it even took full models and streamlined them down to AI use.

The actual flights may be outdated by years but no matter to me.  I just enjoy the traffic density, diversity and immersion it brings.

Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

It's odd that no one has ever done a replacement for FedEx in WOAI. MT6 hs FedEx so I don't think it was a cease and desist issue. I know the person that did the models had pulled them.

Excuse me for not being very familiar with all the AI options but I'm interested in just populating airports with small number of static aircraft similar to how Orbx airports do it.

Is there a way to just place a few static aircraft at particular airports that aren't dependent on the P3D Airline or GA Traffic Density sliders which I keep at 0% for performance reasons and I only fly GA.

Download these free airport packs. They area loaded with hundreds of airports and almost all have all kinds of static GA aircraft parked, as well as people and vehicles. https://fullterrain.com/freeware/global

Here is a link to the maps of these airports.   https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1PE1hbOnyNuZ5ynpoNmYsEPDi6Ao

It is such a shame that Flight1 did not continue Ultimate Traffic development. There were just 2 major bugs in that program, aircraft disappearing when flying over water, and aircraft only appearing and disappearing a small time before and after their flight plan was active. If these could have been fixed, and maybe the gui updated, UT2 would be the best AI traffic program. It has AI aircraft flying more realistic routings than direct-to-gps like every other AI program, and had a lot of customization. But like in life, nothing can be perfect I guess.

Kind of related to this topic. I have MT6 which I like, but since P3D has no Cessna 172 type AI, it appears the only way to add Cessna AI  is to purchase FSX, and copy over the aircraft files for cessnas into P3D.  Is there any other source of Cessna AI aircraft that anyone knows of, besides having to buy and install FSX?

Bob, did even you look into the HTAI Cessna Single pack? It's well worth the $10-15 and works great in FSX or P3d. It add's literally dozens of the various Cessna single models and hundreds of repaints to your AI.

This is just a single airport (KBJC) that I picked out of the blue knowing there would be some Cessna traffic.  Then don't forget about all of the UGA stuff already available here on Avsim, Gulfstream II - IV and the V/550 is out there too. Can't forget the Global Express and Challenger packs from UGA as well (Do I even need to  mention how hideous what appears to be a Challenger and Global Express that comes with MyTraffic :bad: ) ... Aaaaand there's also the Beechjet/MU3, BBJ's, Learjets of nearly all sorts, Citation 550's.

None of the aircraft in these screens are statics, all AI and all on realistic routes representative of their locale etc.

I will check this out.. Thanks. It does say it only works with FS9. Have you tried it in P3D?   http://htai-models.com/projects.html

Are the World of AI models more visible in P3D than the My Traffic models. One thing I miss in P3D is being able to see other traffic in the air. You have to almost be on top of them to see them. I also never see contrails like I used to see in FSX.

Yeah you bet,  those screenshots are all from P3d v3.

No, as far as I know that is a "feature" of P3d.

Hi Dave,

I have the HTAI Cessna pack installed, however, when I place the traffic bgl file within the proper directory, it kills off all my other default AI traffic. To add, I'm lucky to spot 1-2 Cessna aircraft total, and I've visited at least 15 airports. Everything seems to be installed correctly, I'm just at a loss. Any tips?

Joe, you can check out Airport AI Enhancer.

http://www.g-daehling.de/fs2004/modules.php?name=Content&pid=13

The site with the instructions for use is in german, google translator might help. The tool itself is in english.

You can populate any airport to your liking. You can choose the aircraft (AI models are not included), the time between movements and the time on ground of the AI aircraft. You can set the traffic density to 1 % in P3D.

A great advantage is that you create the traffic-files airport by airport. So you can enable only the traffic-files you need for your actual flight, helping performance.

Ralf

Tim, you need to convert the traffic.bfl file from fs9 to fsx format. It's done in a flash with AIFP utility (freeware).

Whenever you mix FS9 and FSX/P3D traffic bgl files, the FS9 files will take priority and kill off all other traffic.

The HTAI Cessna pack was designed for FS9 and therefore is in a different format than what's used by FSX and P3d. FS9 formatted traffic bgl's will still work in FSX/P3d but the side effect is that any FS9 formatted traffic.bgl's will effectively kill any FSX or P3d formatted traffic.bgl's.

To fix it is usually very easy by using AIFP to search for and convert any FS9 traffic files into FSX format.

Link to AIFP here, it's free and a VERY useful tool for AI. http://stuff4fs.com/open.asp?Folder=AIFP&JS=TRUE
