[29JUN16] PMDG 747-400 Queen of the Skies II - Tech Testing Commences

Featured Replies

It will be worth the wait. I have a corner of Heathrow waiting for the arrival. First I'll add a livery, probably British Airways ( hope PMDG have a few ready to go) then set up Ezdok and explore that wonderful cockpit from every angle. A quick run through of the basics (yes I will read the manual later) and then I'll be firing up those 4 engines and rolling out. Maybe a quick flight down to Paris playing with the controls and panning around the outside watching 4 contrails snake out behind, then .................... Etc. Etc........

Gents,   A few folks have asked about Prepar3D.   We do not yet know if the P3D version will release concurrent to the FSX/FSX-SE release, or if there might be schedule lag between them.  It is si

Usually I'm way too giddy after installing a new airplane to read manuals or tutorials so as quick as I can, I load up any newly acquired addon at KLAX, enter in a simple route to KSLC, and get it in the air. It's short enough of a route to get through quickly but long enough to get anything up to cruising altitude for a little while so I can sit there panning around looking at the plane until ToD.

+1, that's true. There is no good 744 for Xplane....and if PMDG take this one to X-plane.......I guess, many people will change platform soon

Waiting for an X-Plane version of 777, 747 and 737 as well. Much more room to work with on a 64bit system that's not limited to 4GB of memory.

I stopped using FSX many years ago and switched to P3D... but I have always used X-Plane, it's the modern flight sim and what I will spend most of my money on for add-ons now. So I'm really hoping PMDG will start making these planes for X-Plane platform soon.

This community is small because it costs too much to buy a computer capable of running it well plus all the thousands of dollars in addons. Until there are converting tools or large developers bringing out xplane products for cheap, FSX and P3D are here to stay - David Lee

32 bit FSX and P3D deserve and need to die so 64 bit XPLANE can prosper.

So you want to force the ESP community to Xplane? What about the people that have spent loads of money on ESP based products? People will convert to Xplane as and when they want to, if they want to.

Very much looking forward to this new 747 for P3D.

If and when a 64 bit version of P3D comes out that could kill Xplane.

Wheen p3d 64 comes out i will only have default planes they give with it.   You will have to buy everything else.  At least Xplane will have things to fly with. to remove the dual fsx p3d licence on the upgrade makes this untenable as about $80more is not acceptible.

I don't recall us having specified what an amount would be (pricing policy is not to be discussed here), though I do recall that we've noted that the current license would likely carry people through the 64 bit conversion.

For comparison MS allow you to use your Windows key on either 32/64bit versions, so I guess it's not unusual for a vendor to allow one license to be used for either version.

I think I am guilty of some cross miss posting here as what I was refering to was the pricing policy of the new ASN upgrade where the removal of dual licence on the upgrade will cost me about $80.

With PMDG I believe the original statement by RR to the effect that pricing would continue through 64 bit conversion was modified to through 3.3. If you have any more on this the information would interest me as it affects two buying decisions which I would like to do with you but have put on hold due to this.

I do think that if there is a need to repurchase everything at anywhere near full rate P3d will have a hard time and risk losing a share of their market to the allready available (and rapidly improving) Xplane offerings. I know I would probably transfer all my new purchases to there if I had to start again.  I fly P3D and FSX largely because of the base I have allready invested in.

Link to this statement?

Very negative position. Far better to say that X-Plane needs to get a lot better so existing FSX and P3D users will switch. Why expect other platforms to die so people are forced to switch to an incomplete 64 bit platform?

It was ironic, wasn't it?
