July 12, 20169 yr I cannot post there either. Approximately $3,000.00 worth Orbx scenery and I can't get support now if I wanted or needed it. They sure are vindictive over there. You have been banned from the Forums. You can still get Support Via Email
July 12, 20169 yr You have been banned from the Forums. You can still get Support Via Email According to the support page of ftx it says orbx does not provide email or telephone support for ftx products unless this has changed don't know. Don't know thought there was a limited access to forum for banned members? July 12, 20169 yr My understanding of it is........... If you are a genuine paying customer But have been banned from the Forums, You will still get Support Via Email "if required"
July 12, 20169 yr I am assuming they would make an exception for anyone needing support for paid products via the FTX Payware Support Forum. This is text straight from the site: "This forum is for customers of *all* FTX payware products (including regions and airports) to request technical and installation support and report any product bugs or other issues. Please use the General Discussion forum for all other non-support discussion and product queries." As long as your post is about an issue and you have an order number in your sig, I don't see why someone wouldn't help out a user who is having difficulties with ORBX products. July 12, 20169 yr Ok, let's put this to bed right now: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/605-orbx-forum-terms-of-use/ For those who cannot see this post, please read: Please acknowledge that these are the privately owned and operated support and community forums of Orbx Simulations Systems Pty. Ltd. and as such your use of them is governed by a set of rules which will be strictly enforced. Purchasing any Orbx software is a purchase of a right-to-use license for that software, but it does not give you the right to contravene these forum terms of use. Whilst we encourage freedom of speech and a friendly atmosphere, please do not be offended by the actions of the Orbx staff or its moderators in enforcing any of the terms of use of these forums. Please do NOT complain to us about deleted posts. We also do not allow first-time posters (ie. people with < 10 posts) to link to other sites. In summary, any "farming" style posts will be immediately removed without explanation. We have two large demo regions, freeware, videos, 3D virtual tours, press and customer reviews and forum community feedback and screenshots to provide you with more than enough information about any product you may consider for purchase. A link and promotional text for a site that is not commercial and does not contain product(s) and/or service(s) is allowed, provided the site is not sexual or does not violate Orbx community standards. The Orbx team shall be the sole arbitrator of what does and what does not violate community standards. (Examples include sites about drugs and/or sex.) Duplicate links to the same URL in a signature are not allowed. Signatures that may be confused with official staff are not allowed Do not post other vendor product announcements Please do not post release announcements for *any* other company or developer's FS products. There are many other places where those developers can release their news and make those announcements, but these forums are not the appropriate place for them. Please note that any post which announces another developer's product will be deleted immediately without explanation. Honestly, this seems pretty clear cut. If you want to purchase the rights to use their products and if you need help from them if something goes wrong, then you have to play by their rules. If the OP violated the terms by which ORBX has stated (rather clearly mind you), then the OP will have to wait out their time, or maybe, just maybe a very courteous and apologetic email to JV will put the OP back in ORBX's good graces. #16 seems like it fits the bill to what the OP's situation may be. July 12, 20169 yr Noel isn't the only person contributing to this thread. If you aren't interested in what he has to say here, then you don't need to keep checking! He seems to have been poorly treated by ORBx (particularly in this instance), so I don't see a problem with him criticising them over here. They have no power over AVSIM, as has clearly been demonstrated by this unofficial forum remaining active after repeated requests to shut it down. July 12, 20169 yr Commercial Member hehe... I too like a bit of harmless tongue-in-cheek banter, but imagine you are the Chef at the local Chinese restaurant and a regular pops in just to exclaim to diners they don't like Sweet and Sour Pork now and so are heading over to the Fish and Chip Shop. I think you would be throwing them out. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

July 12, 20169 yr Approximately $3,000.00 worth Orbx scenery and I can't get support now if I wanted or needed it. They sure are vindictive over there. I think JV believes himself to be some kind of software Guru, rather than a businessperson selling stuff and relying on satisfied customers in a niche market. Then again, he seems to get away with it. Personally I think it's rather ridiculous - ORBX is extremely successful, so why behave like a business scam? I think we all get it, that their response to your comments was probably a bit too harsh. But I don't know what you (or anyone else) is gaining by keeping this thread alive. You made your point. I hope that you aren't operating with the assumption that ORBX staff never visit AVSim just to see what's happening. A bit harsh? I see it as disrespectful towards not only this excellent customer but towards their whole base. But then again, you seem to think this is a merely bit harsh. Is this truly your conviction or are you afraid that an honest post here will put you under JV's beady eye too? I think keeping this thread running is important to avoid this kinddof preemptive censorship that is happening in ORBX customers' own heads. And since he said he was banned again would have thought the op would have been more careful in posting in such a way he wouldn't get banned again. Posting valid concerns and getting banned is NOT the posters fault but the company's in question. How will you get support if your posting of issues are deemed in violation of forum rules? Kind of beside the point for a support forum. Sascha Rieger | EVO Developer What is EVO • How to get Evo 2016 • FS9 Evolution Forum
July 12, 20169 yr The terrible customer support during the migration fiasco has hit them pretty hard in the wallet. Amazing there was no rollback procedure for that extremely unlucky "1%" (myself included). However I believe even old dogs can learn new tricks and very much doubt they will push out of software upgrade of that magnitude without a long term beta test plan and a roll back option ZORAN
July 12, 20169 yr Seems that people are forgetting one thing there are rules for each type of forums some are more rigid than others and if you dont abide or follow than than you risk being banned or suspended. July 12, 20169 yr I believe that there may have been a time where ORBX's forums were pretty open and democratic but it got abused and JV finally put his foot down. Whatever rules, restrictions and other impositions he places on the forums is his right. As it is stated in the ORBX forums, if anyone feels otherwise to the rules, you don't have to post there, which is rather simple and straight forward. Birdguy's post does not have seemed to be in violation of the rules you posted, so why was it banned? IMO this merely shows ORBX unwillingness to engage with their customers over a legit issue with their software.
However I believe even old dogs can learn new tricks and very much doubt they will push out of software upgrade of that magnitude without a long term beta test plan and a roll back option A series of unfortunate events transpired during a time where ORBX had planned to release the migration tool. I am sure someone at ORBX would concur that balls were dropped, tempers flared and frustration got the best of everyone. JV still stands by his claim that out of 8,000 or so users at the time of his last post about updates, still only 1-2% of the users were hit with issues, to which he did apologize. Another simple approach to that, is if anyone felt screwed over by the implementation and that irreparable damage was caused to their sims, it is just as easy to uninstall everything and start over, keeping in mind that when the migration dialog appears, you don't have to click on the button. You can still enjoy ORBX scenery the old way, for now, but also be aware that any new products will only function with the migration in place. It's definitely something to consider but keep in mind that lashing out, arguing semantics, or being uncooperative to ORBX for whatever reason isn't going to get you anywhere.
