Almost everything I purchase online is followed up in a day or two by a survey asking how I liked the product and a block for adding suggestions.  Doesn't the Orbx forum partially serve the same purpose?  Provide customer feedback on the product?  Do these companies that send you those surveys throw the negative ones away?

BTW...Yesterday someone started a thread 'Where's birdguy?'.  The OP asked if he could get my e-mail address or phone number.  This morning it's disappeared. This is the second one.  It seems any threads about me mysteriously disappear.  Shades of Pravda.

It sure did!

Noel,

I went over to ORBX and read some of your posts.   After reading the posts one question came to mind, what part of the country is Noel from ?

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

The only Aliens I've seen here, Stephan,  sit on the City Council.  I've attended a few meetings and gave them hell for something or other but I've never been banned.

Up until a couple years ago when I quit caring about politics I used to write a letter or two a month to the editor of our local paper.  I had an almost 100% published rate but was never banned even though some were quite controversial and POed a few citizens.

I was rebuilding my sim two weeks ago when I decided to go on Steam. After days of reinstalling add ons I got to Orbyx Globel and Vector. Totally screwed up my elevations and scenery beyond repair so I had to uninstall the entire sim and start over taking another week. as a retired business man I can't abide any company being arrogant toward customers so I think ORBYX is a wright off for me. Going back to Photo scenery.

Birdguy, you midht want to consider FSX Steam. It really is stable and much improved perfprmance wise.

I don't think so Vic.  I also play with MSTS train simulator.  When Stream moved into train simulation I gave it a try and wasn't comfortable with it.  I still have the decade old MSTS installed and it works fine for me.  And I am very comfortable with FS2004.  I have reached a stage in my lie where the latest and greatest doesn't interest me anymore.  Orbx took care of that for me.

I'm sticking with old tried and true.  That goes for everything.  I have an old cell phone that doesn't even have a camera on it.  But it has all the functions I need.  It rings when someone calls me and I can dial a number when I want to call someone.  It's turned off most of the time so I don't have to deal with telemarketers.  I turn it on in the evening so I can get voice mail if anyone called and wants me to call back.  I do turn it on when my wife goes shopping but it goes back off when she gets home.

I have a three year old Prius and there are a half a dozen buttons and switches on the dash that I have no idea what they are for so I pretend they are not there.  I never touch them.

Other add ons as well.

Which is why, clearly IMHO, P3D is NOT the future of our hobby.

Let's first see what P3D v4 really has to offer.  I am still waiting for a sim that works smoothly, even seeing Rob A. youtube video, I can still see micro stutters.  His system is powerful yet I can still see the small but detectable hesitation (may be it's youtube).  Anyway back to ORBX, if P3Dv4 delivers and finally ORBX stuffs also deliver because they take advantage of the engine and is native.  I don't mind paying again for the favorite places I would like to fly and finally can fly without being reminded all the time on take off and approaches via the noticeable stutters as they are currently.  ORBX never claims "designed for P3D"  just "install-able to P3D"  I just happened to still have the FSX-SE sim and comparing the ORBX folders between the two sims is very revealing, as I found that many files (most) are the same in FSX and P3D.  Which is why ORBX provides free installer update.

I have buyer fatigue, so I just stay with P3D 3.2 and if the scenery does not work or perform for me, I will just throw it out. It feels like burning money, but so what the money is gone anyway.  I would rather throw the badly performing stuffs out rather than stutters.

I still have all my Orbx installation files on an external HD.  Maybe sometime I might go through the tedium of re-installing it all.  But it won't be on P3D.  That's history.  It will be on FSX providing Orbx gets it's act together.

Going back to FS2004 on the system that I had built for FSX/Orbx has been a great move for me.  No stutters, no OOMs, no dropping framerates in metro areas.  If I ever do reinstall FSX/Orbx FS2004 will remain where it is.  They will live side by side.

As I said in the Orbx forum post that got me banned, "Such a high maintenance mistress is out of my class.  I'm dumping Bambi Galmorpuss for Doris Kowlaski in the mail room.  She doesn't get a headache everytime I want to t take her flying."
