September 2, 20169 yr Hmm, now I'm confused. I asked if VC rain is missing in XPlane and you answer no. The rest of my question was why post in a missing VC rain thread if yours are not missing?
September 2, 20169 yr Dave, the thread appears to be about missing VC rain effects. Is that true of XPlane? If not, why post in a missing VC Rain thread? Yes My IXEG 737 has it built in and the best I've seen. The wipers work in the VC (The only way I fly) and shows the water actually being wiped away by the blade! I think his point is, if that is true.... why are you here in a thread about the lack of rain in the VC? Let me guess.... you want 64bit. Josh Daniels-Johannson
September 3, 20169 yr The IXEG is a high end custom aircraft obviously. I don't have it but I hear amazing things about it. That being said, not all XP aircraft show rain on the canopy and/or have working wipers. In fact most don't. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

September 4, 20169 yr Here a better video I made, when I was editing this video I notice a fog effect on the side windows also. RealAir really nailed it. Asus Rampage VI Extreme Encore(water Cooled) EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Hybrid, 64 DD4 @ 2800 2 x 2x M.2 in raid 0.
September 18, 20169 yr This is basically only the default A321 VC though. Need to find out how this will work out with windscreen wipers to make this implementation more useful. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
September 18, 20169 yr I would love to see this on A2A aircraft, as I am a dedicated customer. This topic sent me searching their forum for more info... Lewis from A2A says, "its not so much the fps impact as it is the quantitative impact on a finite number [of effects] imposed by the host simulator." and, "This wouldn't be appropriate for the Accu-feel product as its a general add-on that is designed to be transparent, so you don't need to edit any files etc for aircraft. Raindrops is possible in FSX but that would be for a per plane basis, they are quite old tech so you get an old outdated FS2004 style effect + take up quite a lot of things that could be used for other systems and animations etc." Bummer. But I would never trade Accusim systems for rain. No way. Aaron Thacker
September 18, 20169 yr I like the Real air rain effect along with the AS16 Mist effect.. Its awesome! Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
September 19, 20169 yr But if it's a shader would it still count against animations of the aircraft? Seems like it would be handled more like the particle system? I suspect that many aircraft devs either don't have knowledge on shader programming or don't want to spend the time to make the effect. I agree the AS16 effect is nice and I also like how the majestic makes fog on the windows if you don't turn on the defrost. P3D-DX11 opens up a lot more ways to do stuff graphically but half of it goes unused because people develop for the most common denominator. Got spoiled on the long hiatus of development on FSX and don't want to move forward. Steve McNitt

September 20, 20169 yr If it could be smoother I'd say it's cool! The rain is a mere 2D gauge based on XML and using bog standard 24 bit bitmaps without any fancy extras, so if you want to make it cool, you can very much make it cool yourself. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days

October 19, 20169 yr Hi Bjoern That is very impressive! Can you share your gauge and bitmaps please? Jay Unless you are an experienced developer with access to a GMax/3ds Max/FSDS source file of an aircraft, this gauge will be of absolutely no use to you since it requires a gauge polygon across the windscreen. And 99.9% of any existing airplane add-ons are not equipped with one. So at the moment, the technique is limited to my FSX default A320/321 cockpit upgrade and currently one (and maybe a second) work in progress project from other developers. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
