October 31, 20169 yr Author Indeed. In my case, the reason is pretty simple. As I use TIR and I am not capable of keeping my head in a turned fashion really still, I prefer switching view to a so called "2D like" 3D view, otherwise I either don't see the switches properly (too small) or I simply don't manage to click it I almost never use track IR any more for the same reason. I switch it off to change settings and click buttons, and then just don't bother turning it on again .
October 31, 20169 yr $39 for an Alpha version, which according to the official website is subject to "bugs and crashes" and doesn't even include a manual? That sounds like a really poor deal to me. Do developers now expect us to test their products while paying full price?
October 31, 20169 yr Commercial Member $39 for an Alpha version, which according to the official website is subject to "bugs and crashes" and doesn't even include a manual? That sounds like a really poor deal to me. Do developers now expect us to test their products while paying full price? There are people out there who really want to use it. It's like purchasing a game on Steam as Early Access. We have something functional right now and bug reports are way less than we expected. $39 includes all the updates to v1.x with all the features that will be coming in the future. We think it's a great deal. If you're not ok with that, you are free not to buy it! Keven Menard Technical Director, //42.
October 31, 20169 yr If you're not ok with that, you are free not to buy it! That's exactly what I'm going to do. I don't mean to say that the business model of offering an early access version is a bad one. It worked well for many games, as you've already pointed out (and, for many more, it ended poorly becaue the developers abandon their product, leaving people with something unfinished - but that's a completely different issue). However, usually the deal with early access is to offer the alpha / beta version at a lower price, because not all features have been implemented and because there are still bugs. That way, customers can either deal with these issues (as well as assisting the developers by giving feedback) while paying a lower price, or wait until the software is finished and then pay the full price. Your business model seems to be... different, and of course you have every right to do as you wish. But I felt it was worth pointing out the difference.

ChasePlane v1.0 will not be $39 as we will reevaluate based on features included in the full version. I really don't see why this "Early Access" model would be much different from what we observe on Steam right now. Also, motivation is really not an issue in our team as we're still as motivated as we were 1 year ago when we started the project. We have incredible plans for this product and none of those are really hard to turn into reality. Keven Menard Technical Director, //42.

Seems to me the prices of sim addons are getting higher and higher. I applaud the early access model though, specially when it is communicated so clearly as you guys are doing it.
October 31, 20169 yr Thank you FSFX dev team for this chance to early access this amazing product. I really like this business model. It allows me to solve this issue with cameras without having to wait longer. I really appreciate your fidelity discount too. Keep the hard work! October 31, 20169 yr Why even make it so complicated? It's a camera addon... make it "just" work like the default X-Plane's camera controls and everyone will be happy. Why insisting on including all over the top functions useful only to potential video makers and then charge everyone for it? It's already $39 for alpha version...

I don't think you get what ChasePlane is... Have a look at the features list on the product page and tell me what features only for "potential video makers" And by the way, it's $39 for an Alpha + Full Version + Free Updates after v1. So I don't think it's that expensive. EZDok is $34.95 right now. ChasePlane is $39 (If you own many of our products, it's actually $35.10) For that $4 difference ($0.15 with discount) and you get most of EZDok's features in a better UI, with better controls, etc... October 31, 20169 yr For that $4 difference ($0.15 with discount) and you get most of EZDok's features in a better UI, with better controls, etc... But not the most important one to a lot of folk here, TrackIR support, I will buy it instantly as soon as it supports TrackIR and motion effects at the same time, I have little interest in camera angle etc as I never leave the Cockpit.
October 31, 20169 yr Actual price is USD$ 35.10 if you purchased any other FSFXPackages product - seems like a great price to me - well done guys Rich Sennett
