November 27, 20169 yr Hi, this all has been discussed already at LR and of course they are open to feedback: GUI - severe discussion. I also miss finetuning, but the majority of users is unable to sensibly set their options and then gets themselves into trouble. Compare the rendering options with MOST modern games - they give you a "low - med - high" and thats it. Because for that very reason (most users are ignorant to modern hardware and processing details, that includes me;-)))Happy flying, Jan Not really true Jan. Plenty of modern games have a ton of options you can tweak. Most AAA titles for sure. 4790K @4.9GHz, 32GB DDR3, 1080Ti, W10-64bit
November 27, 20169 yr Ok guys1 day of testing lots to love especially like the roads and traffic. As for weather well for an as16 user its rubbish and is stopping me buying at mo . Whats the best combination freeware payware to get weather reasonable. Prefer freeware just to try with demo but would like to know best payware combi as well . Real newbie p3d user here. November 27, 20169 yr Commercial Member GUI - severe discussion. I also miss finetuning, but the majority of users is unable to sensibly set their options and then gets themselves into trouble. Compare the rendering options with MOST modern games - they give you a "low - med - high" and thats it. Because for that very reason (most users are ignorant to modern hardware and processing details, that includes me;- This is most definitely not true. Most modern games have low med high and extreme global settings just like X-Plane 10 did along with sliders for fine tuning but also have far more in depth settings.I can't think of any modern pc game that doesn't have pages of advanced graphics settings, way more than you get in any of the sims. You are right that a lot of people in the sim world can't sensibly set things though. Edit opps that will teach me to read to the end of a thread, sorry for pointing that same thing out! Because for that very reason (most users are ignorant to modern hardware and processing details, that includes me;-)))DSF is ALWAYS extended in XP11 The new GUI is nice for new users, but IMO it shouldn't alienate seasoned users who like to configure things their way. e.g. I turn down forests and cars, but have objects on max. There is no way to set this in XP11. I'd be happy if the more advanced options where just in the preferences file and could be edited with a text editor. Also, I didn't realise extended DSFs is always on, this is going to kill users of UHD Mesh and W2XP regions who don't have at least 16GB RAM. I wouldn't mind so much, but Apple decided making their laptops smaller and smaller so you can't put more RAM in is a good idea. (Time to remove the 'pro' from Macbook)
November 27, 20169 yr Is there a way to get the the local map back that displays NDB's and VOR's etc? The new map just seems to display airports.
November 27, 20169 yr I agree that we should be able to set detailed rendering options similar to XP10. If there is ONE thing that I found great when first switching to X-Plane, then it was NOT having to edit any "stupid" CFGs in order to fine tune the sim.
November 27, 20169 yr Moderator I thought you wrote XPlane Actually it was Austin Meyer who wrote the very first versions of X-Plane and it cost a lot of money to buy back then :-). Is there a way to get the the local map back that displays NDB's and VOR's etc? The new map just seems to display airports. It does show them I thought?, it even shows the airways between them. One thing I miss from the map is the terrain view and the ability to drag your aircraft to a new position (This was so very useful for a scenery developer) If you guys want to try the demo with your complete X-Plane 10 install, consider using symlinks from your X-Plane 11 install directory to your X-Plane 10 directories. Symlinking the Custom Scenery, Resources/plugins, Custom Data and Aircraft folders is a good idea if you want to save disk space, but still use all your X-Plane 10 add-ons in v11. No, be very careful with this. The XP11 updater may overwrite certain items making them incompatible or weird looking in XP10. You can still symlink individual scenery or aircraft folders, but symlinking the entire thing is opening the door to headaches later.

Btw , you can drag your plane

Btw , you can drag your plane Tat for tat, I have airways, VORS and NDBs, but can't drag my plane :-(. Edit: I can drag my plane, I need to right-click on it first. However, it moves in in real-time and then crashes the sim :-)

I know sir meant that he is a team member of Xplane development in LR. How is XP11 performing for you ? would have bought but 60 USD is quite expensive for me right now :( Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus

November 27, 20169 yr Sorry, 15 minutes is beyond absurd. Flow out the cash Bobby and you'll get a no limit exprience :-) too much, too soon....
November 27, 20169 yr Moderator How is XP11 performing for you ? would have bought but 60 USD is quite expensive for me right now I'd be lying if I said it was good. It's pretty bad for me, but this is to be expected.

How is XP11 performing for you ? would have bought but 60 USD is quite expensive for me right now I look at it this way. 60 dollars for a flight sim that will have years of updates and only get better. I have paid more than that for some add ons that turn out to be garbage with only mediocre updates. We need to put it in perspective

I am also close to moving from P3D to XP11. I was going to do it with XP10. But, it just wasn't close enough. Weather and AI traffic need help. It looks like there are some decent weather programs out there. SkyMaxx has a version 4 coming. But, I don't see any traffic programs that are the equivalent of what we have for FSX and P3D. I see X-Life which is free and looks good but doesn't cover all airports and World Traffic which appears to require the user to create the routes. I just want something that I can install and see traffic. I'll keep researching these two areas before pulling out the credit card. Rick Abshier 5900X | RTX 5070 Ti OC| 64 GB@3600 | India Pale Ale
