November 27, 20169 yr But er... I discovered XP doesn't have a flight planner? Not even a basic one? I already saw I can use Plan-G for XP: does it work with XP11 already? But what do you use for airliners? I have been using ProATC with P3D lately and love how it assigns SIDS and STARs... seem I have to figure that all out by myself in XP...? The latest version of Plan-G displays the position of the aircraft and connects to XP11. It does not read the navaids though, when trying to import the database it crashes. A workaround for the moment is to have it display either the Prepar3D data or the XP10 data. Regarding flight plans: You can use ProATC to create one. Copy the route to simbrief and export it there to the X-Plane fms format. I haven't tried yet however if XP11 reads this format correctly. UPDATE: Externally created plans are properly read by default aircraft and Carenado GA models. No change to XP10. Hans
November 27, 20169 yr Moderator But no, first I have to figure out if there are any GA airports that have scenery because it totally sucks to take off from an empty field There are plenty http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/category/80-scenery-packages-v10-v9-dsf-files/ (I've even made a few, EGGP, ENHA, etc). There are some that don't use any libraries (e.g. My own and also MisterX's), but there are also lots that make extensive use of libraries (and I don't see the advantage over using them as compared to the gateway ones). Libraries are a pet hate of mine and if I see an airport that requires me to have to download 10 different libraries I move on (but that's another topic ;-)). Yes, I do think FSX/P3D wins hands down here, but then again almost everything on FSX is payware. Don't give up, just don't grab the first version of something you see, there is often lots of choice.
November 27, 20169 yr Not in the XP11 UI, no, you have to edit the preference file by hand. In XP10 you can switch them off Tony, what about the balloons and aleatory oil rigs? Do they show up in XP11 as in XP10? I hope there's a way to switch them off.
November 27, 20169 yr So far positive impressions on XP11, it's just the performance which is worse. But that might be because of a single slider handling traffic, objects, roads and so on Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."
November 27, 20169 yr Moderator Tony, what about the balloons and aleatory oil rigs? Do they show up in XP11 as in XP10? I hope there's a way to switch them off. I've seen boats I believe, but not balloons. Here are some options in preferences: renopt_HDR_antial 0 renopt_aurora 0 renopt_boats 0 renopt_comp_texes 1 renopt_deer_birds 1 renopt_draw_3d_04 4 renopt_effects_04 3 renopt_fire_ball 0 renopt_gload 0 renopt_per_pix_liting 1 renopt_planet 1 renopt_scattering 0 renopt_scenery_shadows 0 renopt_sloped_runways 0 renopt_static_acf 0 renopt_view_ind 1 renopt_volume_fog 0 renopt_wat_05 2 So you can turn the boats and deer off, but only by editing Output/Preferences/X-Plane.prf and setting values to 0 or 1.
November 27, 20169 yr Commercial Member A couple of things that should change. Only get to settings by restarting the sim (want it on the top bar like in 10). No SLI support after all this time. Spend half an hour or so to get a plan from simbrief to x-plane and into the 737 but it doesn't seem to work. I'm off to P3D for now. After all this fooling around with XP and not doing a single flight with it I need some simple flying. Only get to settings by restarting the sim (want it on the top bar like in 10). It's in the bar already, on the right.

I think PlanG requires XPUIC. it is like the FUIPC Ryzen 5 1600x - 16GB DDR4 - RTX 3050 8GB - MSI Gaming Plus
November 27, 20169 yr I think PlanG requires XPUIC. it is like the FUIPC To connect, maybe, but not for just creating flightplans...? But I am trying to get a plan for the 737 and I don't think Plan-G is the right planner for that.

November 27, 20169 yr Commercial Member One thing that really needs a fix is if you use 4k all the menus and windows are very tiny. P3D seems to have overcome this with standard size tool bar even when in 4k. Paul Grubich 2017 - Professional texture artist painting virtual aircraft I love. November 27, 20169 yr One thing that really needs a fix is if you use 4k all the menus and windows are very tiny. P3D seems to have overcome this with standard size tool bar even when in 4k. You can resize the menu (when you go to options there is a dropdownmenu somewhere near the bottom) to a certain percentage and afaik it also resizes the menu at the top when you fly.
November 27, 20169 yr Anyone else getting this banding? Click on pic to see full image- Yes...at night, dawn, dusk...but being Beta...not sweating it right now. I know that will be addressed. @ Mitch, John Spahn is already working on and testing SMP 4 for XP-11, if this video is any indication. Cheers, Tom Cool, cool...thank you very much for the post and head's up. @ Mitch, John Spahn is already working on and testing SMP 4 for XP-11, if this video is any indication. Cheers, Tom Wow...that looks a 100 percent better than my ported XP10 version. Cool! Hi, this all has been discussed already at LR and of course they are open to feedback: haze will get cut back, I think. Part of the problem is getting used to it/part is not being used to it (XP10). Some middle ground is the goal, I think. GUI - severe discussion. I also miss finetuning, but the majority of users is unable to sensibly set their options and then gets themselves into trouble. Compare the rendering options with MOST modern games - they give you a "low - med - high" and thats it. Because for that very reason (most users are ignorant to modern hardware and processing details, that includes me;-))) DSF is ALWAYS extended in XP11 Airport flattening is now handled on a "per airport" basis. If you see an airport that SHOULD be flattened, file a bug in the Scenery Gateway (or fix it yourself with WED, then upload to Gateway. Warning: Only do it if it is really not useable without flattening - dont do it just because you like flat airports. Lights cutting out in the distance is the same problem as it was in XP10, no change - but should be fixed in the future, I agree. Happy flying, Jan Hi Jan...thanks for posting. I then have a suggestion...as some software from Apple does not allow you (a user gate...) to go beyond a certain volume level of control..until a 'warning' of going beyond is noted by a click press. Laminar could have what the G.U.I. puts out now as a DEFAULT high level, compounded version...and then...with a button (or on the menu) have a SUB For the Advanced User (only a suggested name and format) Menu that will give back to the user more comfortable with the parameter controls that we had at least in XP10...and that would cover both types of user base. One..that 'games' and only needs a few general high level offerings, that are quite apparent to what they are being able to control, and then we more astute users, that WISH to have as much control, to tweak our tech...and suck the 'marrow from the bones'...of the sim. This could be done..and satisfy both camps. This G.U.I. frankly would drive me perhaps backwards....and I only want to travel forwards with XP11. Heck...I bought it yesterday with it only in raw Beta...so impressed by certain elements within it, as compared to XP10. I'm absolutely on-board..but when I 'snuck back' yesterday and took a flight with XP10...there was a verbal 'ahhhh'...when I saw COLOR...depth of color...and a haze brought on by Ventura Sky that was natural to the eye. I could actually enjoy the haze/blend effect..BUT...BUT...I could still see the ground,, color elements, and the horizon where the sky meets the land. You can NOT see that within this beta. You see a white fade out...that is not natural to my eye. I fly quite a bit for a living...and the world is simply NOT a white haze out...well...except for flying into, and out of Los Angeles (tongue-in-cheek..poor blokes). So...that is my suggestion....a two-tier approach to the User GUI. One as default...and one that needs to be clicked upon (button, or click on box..whatever) that gives more advanced users, the control they do NOT want left behind..... Cheers Mitch
