Wow...but a warning...a real FPS sucker, you need a strong system...but oh boy....

Mr. X's Phoenix Sky Harbor, at XP11 Max...

I have no regrets, not one..in jumping into XP11 this early...things will be tuned...added to...but until then...wow...

I did an A/B  comparison flight at this location last night...between XP10 and XP11.   On my system, with both sims flat out...everything to the right, or on...XP 11 gives me about 10 less constant FPS than does XP10.  Where this flight you see here, would play out about 10-11 more FPS within XP10, that's about all you can say...because they are two generations of sims....more happening from one to the other, for instance, the graphic output between XP10 and XP11 at max graphics..is perhaps at least 40-60 percent more ground objects and packed density.  That is not represented as an accurate figure..but stated only in my mind's eye, put to a percentage.  The following pics are mind blowing of the actual screen output for urban Phoenix and rural....out towards the Superstition Mountains.

This folks..is simply real-world, fantastic!  At the FPS you see in the top left corner, at no time, did the sim stutter, with the plane in any other form, but smooth operational advancement....even at the lowest FPS being generated at the time of capture. So with that being said...truly...the actual FPS put-out becomes redundant, SO LONG as you also, get smooth animation from your own system; CPU/GPU/VRAM combo.

Enjoy:

So you can turn the boats and deer off, but only by editing Output/Preferences/X-Plane.prf and setting values to 0 or 1.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the tip!.

I had a huge swarm of seagulls in one case flying around my a/c on the ground. They will be gone now.

It took me almost an hour to download, with this being my first look at x plane and not having a previous key, it only gave a few minutes to fly before it shut down. It was hard to evaluate in such a short time. I didn't want to buy the beta unit i will wait for the final product.

My first attempt to take off in the 747 resulted in birds being sucked into the engine on the runway and loss of power, pretty cool.

Is the aircraft bouncing about in stormy weather, or is it the camera?

I do not like it.

Yes I noticed that too. My 737 went inverted at one point during stormy weather. I must admit I had the slider almost to the right :)

Here's a suggestion...you get 15 minutes of actual aircraft control.  After you have had a few restarted flights to see how the control is, upon your singular system, here's the tip:  Start a flight and then go up to the top left menu, and click on A.I. flys your plane.   Then merely sip a coffee..a beer..a.coke...and sip back and watch the graphics etc...as your plane will call for fuel, will be pushed out of the gate, will pivot and make taxi to the active, and all under A.T.C.

Now here's the cool part. When the blue blocker screen comes up stating that you have no longer any control...and to purchase the full install.  KEEP FLYING with A.I. in control  Move your viewpoint, to at least unblock as much of what is being flown over as you can.  Stay with the flight. Your A.I. pilot is NOT AFFECTED by the loss of control by you, the User.  Your pilot will eventually make a final...and land...cool for a G.A., as well as the 737-800....and make to the gate.  This will let you at least see much more of the area and what you can expect.  This is what I did for over an hour, before on the final pester-pop up...to purchase the full sim.  Absolutely no regrets on that choice.   How nice to fly your own path...out of your own F.B.O or region...and see what's up...and there is LOTS to see...even with merely default scenery, at the max WORLD OBJECTS slider setting.

Hope this helps.

Now...THAT's a city!

Does anyone by chance have Ultra Weather XP and tried it in XP11? Those SMP clouds drive me nuts.

Restart and you will get another 15 minutes. You can fly for hours or days or months but for 15 minutes each time. ;) The demo isn't locked completely after 15 minutes!

how are you guys using any 3rd party planes in x-plane 11? none of mine work, FF 757,767 ect... Also how are you upgrading the navigraph in xp 11, when i use the navigraph manager, xp 11 fails too start. i have 10 and 11 running side by side until the official release.

The new GUI is nice for new users, but IMO it shouldn't alienate seasoned users who like to configure things their way. e.g. I turn down forests and cars, but have objects on max. There is no way to set this in XP11. I'd be happy if the more advanced options where just in the preferences file and could be edited with a text editor.

Also, I didn't realise extended DSFs is always on, this is going to kill users of UHD Mesh and W2XP regions who don't have at least 16GB RAM. I wouldn't mind so much, but Apple decided making their laptops smaller and smaller so you can't put more RAM in is a good idea. (Time to remove the 'pro' from Macbook)

Hi Tony,

Our minimum requirements are 8 GB RAM, 16 recommended, and frankly 16 GB isn't hard to come by these days. I think it's not crazy that users at the minimum requirements can't install a UHD add-on and have it work well...minimum requirements meant he sim can just barely function at lowest settings without add-ons.

BTW my plan on the 'clutter' settings is: deer and balloons stay off until we can put them only where they belong.  Birds stay on and I talk to Austin about whether they're a little bit too Alfred Hitchcock.  All boats and such should be always on, because they do a reasonably sane job of showing up in the right places.

cheers

Ben

Fall colors around Detroit....package can be found on Xplane.org   Not sure where I picked this exactly on their site, or I would have posted a direct link. Search around..and you will come across it...

Took Ventura Sky out of the Lua Scripts.   Another user was right...it actually added to the fog and dense haze. This series no longer has Ventura Sky in play within XP11. It was designed for use in XP10.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but I'm getting large, multiple translucent circles or cones in my field of view when flying at night or dawn/dusk.  They go away after about 10 seconds but reappear if I turn to the left or right.

Edit: Must have been a temporary bug. I reloaded and all is good.

Clouds suck big time indeed, even those addons look bad. One more reason to use XP as a night sim for now. ;)

Gave the demo a spin and I'd have to agree. The daytime environment still leaves a lot to be desired, but night lighting and environment looks fantastic (never noticed the fast moving emergency vehicles before...).

Xplane11 HD space required questions for the download and install

If it is e.g., an 80GB ZIP download.

Then Unzip it ... another 80 GB

Then install it .... another 80 GB

240 GB used so far used on HD.

Is this true?

After install is it ok to delete the ZIP download file and the Unzipped files to recover that 160 GB HD space?

For example, will not be needed for future Updates.

Best Regards,
