Ok, last question for today:  Is the FMC working at all? I tried to use it in all three default heavies but it does not accept any input expect for INIT. It says that the database is outdated (obviously as we are at 1612) but why are most LSK's and RSK's not functional at all?

I flew a flight to kpdx from seatle with it...a bit flakey but there. My problem was re altitudes and the autopilot but that could have been me.

Edited in it and wrote flight plan and arrival departure,  used manual navigation to follow the route.

There is a lot of quality stuff out there for X-Plane. And a lot of it is freeware/donationware. See here:

http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/34063-enha-hamar-stafsberg-custom-hd-airport/

Hi, Carlo, it's funny that you picked this airport as an example. I believe that it's an example of the artistic talent of our own moderator, Tonywob, using a different name.

@J van E, don't confuse the Gateway airports with other freeware and payware ones. Gateway airports come with X-plane and are increased in number with each update of X-plane. They will never be more complex than objects in the libraries that WED has access to. Some airports designed with WED can look pretty nice, but they won't contain any custom objects, such as you find in the example submitted above. There are many fine freeware GA airports out there which are payware quality. The org is a good place to start, but there are many other good sites as well.

Cheers,

Tom

This sim looks really great. I haven't touched X Plane since version 9. I am having trouble trying to calibrate within the sim my PFC Cirrus Beech yoke. When I try to calibrate it the roll axis just move a little and does not get picked up by X-Plane and I have to cancel the calibration. Is there a trick to get a PFC yoke calibrated. It sees the full range for the pitch axis and also for the throttle but not for the roll axis.

Thanks

Ed

Flaky is a good word.  I can't seem to always get Direct to working, and is there a way to activate leg?  Meaning, you filed a flight plan from A to B to C to D.  Enroute ATC gives me a heading when I'm in between B and C.  They then issue a heading to join the route from B to C.  How do I get the FMS to do this?

Just "skip Axis"and any unused Axis, and it should work. I have the same yolk. File a bug report !

I'm skipping the axis that are unused but the roll axis moves but it does not move enough to bring out of red and become blue. I have calibrated via windows 10 and makes no difference.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm also quiet sure that this rendition of ENHA is indeed Tony's beautiful work.

Enjoy flying and happy landings.

I have the exact same problem with my PFC yoke.

No matter what I do, I can't seem to turn left. I filled a bug report when I noticed. Think you should do the same so they know it's not just one faulty yoke.

Of course it is Tony's work. I know. And this is of course one of the best freeware GA airports available for X-Plane. I just wanted to point out that there is enough out there to also enjoy X-Plane as a GA pilot.

It worked once, but when I went completely out of the program and restarted, it would not.  The problem is that if the "Enable TrackIR...." is checked, the X-Camera program will enable, but the image just jumps all around the cockpit.  This is what I had happening yesterday.  If you turn off the "Enable", TrackIR does not work at all.  Funny that it worked perfectly one time and then quit.  I expect Mark will fix it quickly.

Hello !

I have no troubles with X-Camera and XP11 even with the Headshake Plugin - I leave TrackIR to on and set my options in the X-Camera for the Aircraft, but I´m using only TrackIR and Headshake option!

I have latest TrackIR software version !

BTW: I stay out of the diskussions but for me as a long-time user of X-Plane are the options (settings) really  to much "trimmed" - Please put some extra options, could also be some "hidden" options in the prefernce file - You everytime forget that some users are not using only single monitors - the performance is quite good in the standard situations (very improved) but in situations with heavy weather and using some addon sceneries the frames are dropping from 30 (locked trough nvidia settings) to 17-20 FPS

something like:

renopt_car_05

renopt_extended_dsf

renopt_for_05

renopt_lod_04

renopt_obj_06

and some slider for the clouds, that will be very helpfull !

Thank you again for the other improvements !

Well I purchased it because

1) I like to try new things and not get trapped by any particular orthodoxy.

2) 15 minutes for the demo is incredibly silly and annoying.

3) I wanted to download the world and get it over with.

4) I'll offer financial support to nearly any new civilian sim.

Results are pretty much meh. Framerates are ok, resting between 45 to 60 with higher settings on my system. Surprisingly, higher resolution's don't seem to have that much affect on frames. The meh is because its still Xplane, and I've never quite believed in the look. Biggest plus is the new interface. Biggest immediate minus is that the interface removes quite a bit of granular control from the visual settings.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Mainly Norway, but that is also due to Orbx FTX Norway and the Airports of Norway freeware. I doubt if you can reach that level with WED. ;)

Interesting, I'll put that on my list of addons to check out. ;)

You are lucky, Norway is a pet peeve of tony ;)

check out that link, there are also loads of airports availalbe for norway. Its one of the great regions.

If you have a beefy pc i also suggest  the UHD Scandinavia Mesh.

I think Norway is one of the few regions where you can get better quality than orbx with freeware/donationware

Thanks for the info, I am already waiting for the update to Norway Pro!  (That UHD mesh will have to wait for my new PC though.) But right now my problem is getting the airports. I also already knew about Tony's airports (thanks again for the links, Tony  ) but I am having a hard time finding others. Must be looking in the wrong places.
