November 26, 20169 yr Wow that was a ridiculously short trial period...seriously why bother guys. It took me longer to setup my joysticks than actual flying time. next time you startup the demo, do you need to set the joystick again? it should be already configured i presume. the demo will not allow you to experience a trip still, but you can have a good impression on graphics, take a small tour over ksea area. This may not be everything we like to fully use the sim but does p3d or fsx offer a demo to test yoour hardware and first impressions? Manuel Merelles

November 26, 20169 yr P3D gives 60 days rather than 15 minutes. That's more or less a return policy, not a demo though. XP has had that ridiculous 15 minute policy for years. You don't spend any money if you get P3D, use it for two months, and don't like it and get a refund, no questions asked. In 60 days, you can make an intelligent assessment if you like it or not, rather than feeling like you are playing a shell game.,

You should also be able to pause the sim and that should stop the timer. So your best bet is to get right into the sim (in game not the menus) and pause it, then play around with settings. November 26, 20169 yr Just restart the program and you'll get another 15 minutes (as many times as you like). Just realized that, restarting did the trick. I may end up buying this down the road. Performance is quite amazing considering I have everything maxed out and flying over Seattle. Really impressed so far. Keep up the good work LR! November 26, 20169 yr I fall into the 15 minute's isn't nearly enough time to assess this BETA release category. Being a new user to XP it takes time to get acquainted with the interface and trying to get simple things like your yokes/throttles set-up takes a little longer. Once you have your controllers set-up, getting into the 737 to try and fire her up takes another little bit of time and before you know it, the time limit kicks in and you get the nag screen and your flight controls stop working. Very frustrating. If they want to attract new users (by that I mean users who NEVER had or touched XP previously) they should definitely do something with the time limit. M
November 26, 20169 yr If they want to attract new users (by that I mean users who NEVER had or touched XP previously) they should definitely do something with the time limit. I disagree about the time limit. For a complex civilian flight sim you will never figure out if it does everything you want, even if it was extended to 30 minutes or an hour. The demo is basically a hardware test. Does it work with your flight controls, and can you get a flyable frame rate? Those are things you shouldn't even be considering with a Beta version demo, but after release it's a good thing to know. After v11 goes final, you use the demo to see how it runs on your hardware. Fifteen minutes is fine for that. Load up something smaller and less complicated than an airliner so you're getting into the air and not fussing with the cockpit. And then you decide if $59.99 is worth it to check out the full version and the rest of the simulated world. M Whew.... so pausing the sim to setup everything isn't stopping the timer? No one is getting back to me. I don't have the demo but I had it in XP10 and pausing stopped the countdown. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
