November 26, 20169 yr WOW!me and the xplane community aren't getting off to a good start. people telling me im crying when im asking for help.... man , what a turn off. I know its a beta and I read that there can be FPS issues, but my god its running at 12 fps on a top of the line system..... 6600k @4.8ghz and 980ti OCed 32gb 3000 ram. others with much lesser specs are reporting its running just fine, so whats the issue? My gpu is running at 20% compared to 99% on xp10, there must be something turned off. Now , if someone cares to give me any advice other than informing me its a beta and what do I expect or that im crying i would appreciate it! Ive been simming for 20 years on fsx so forgive me if im not familiar with xplane. How can one test a product when it doesnt even run?? I want to give xplane a 2nd try but man this isnt a nice way to treat fellow simmers. your systems specs are pretty decent to me, its difficult to help. the developers have said there are big performance issues still and working on maybe the new rendering systems doesn't work well the gpu drivers you have installed. It could be anything. You may experiment yourself on the rendering settings to see if something works for you. I don't think there is user configuration rules or guidelines at this early stage. November 26, 20169 yr I moved all the sliders to the left. nothing works, the gpu isnt kicking in for whatever reason , and i know because my cpu load is almost max and gpu is at 20% load. your systems specs are pretty decent to me, its difficult to help. the developers have said there are big performance issues still and working on maybe the new rendering systems doesn't work well the gpu drivers you have installed. November 26, 20169 yr XP 11 is SO SOLD! I have everything pretty well maxed out...and it looks like I have a ton of custom already installed. It is gorgeous as stock. The only thing I don't have at max, is World Objects, because I like the look of High as better real-world represented. I am flying through some great clouds...rain...storms...WOW!......22-29 FPS. Even at 22 FPS, the sim is absolutely smooth. The stock clouds, are GREAT! Very wispy...as you fly through them... Can't wait for the DVD release! This is so sold.... )) CPU: i7-975 Extreme at 4.2 GHz GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0 with the latest updated VBIOS (version .72) The verdict, is 'wow'....
November 26, 20169 yr Good news. I'll give it a test. My current tweaks don't give good results with XP11, because as I said some datarefs have a different effect on the depiction of clouds in XP11. So they must be tweaked again. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

If your cpu is almost at max this means the gpu is not kicking in because you have a cpu botleneck first. windows defender? antivirus? did you put exceptions for xplane11 folder? heavy hitters on rendering or cpu are roads, cars, trees Manuel Merelles

November 26, 20169 yr I have XP 10 Steam version. So does this mean I only get the XP11 beta demo? Lame. I'd buy the XP11 beta warts and all if I could. Ryzen 7 5800x, 64gb, 7900XTX 24gb

I want to give xplane a 2nd try but man this isnt a nice way to treat fellow simmers. also make sure you turn off the ai traffic, the current system i am using for x-plane is a 6600k clocked at 5ghz, a gtx 1070, and 32 gb of ram, i am getting around 60 fps, don't max everything out, besides that it is a beta, you need to test and restart until you can find a good fps, i think you are just overlooking something, don't give up until the rtm is out, this is a huge step forward as far as i am concerned.
November 26, 20169 yr Have the settings very high and looks good. FPS, gpu and cpu usage is low. Love the new interface as the setup for the controls is great. Briefly trying the ATC and though a work in progress looks way better than any previous version. One button pulls up the ATC frequencies and ability to file the flightplan right there. Very bright and realistic outside. Love the clear contours of the runways. Have i7-4790 3.5ghz, 1080AMPextreme 8gb. Amped up the settings more and still getting smooth flying: 8XSSAA+FXAA, Texture High, HDR High, world objects maximum, Reflection detail high. Turned up the weather detail to heavy precipitation. Flying the MD82 which looks great inside. Access to the map while flying which shows precipitation. Looking really nice. Ryzen 7 5800x, 64gb, 7900XTX 24gb
November 26, 20169 yr I moved all the sliders to the left. nothing works, the gpu isnt kicking in for whatever reason , and i know because my cpu load is almost max and gpu is at 20% load. This is not happening to me. The stuff that hurts fps the most (from what I've noticed) is clouds... there isn't a slider so you need to turn them totally OFF! Reflections set to minimal. Your posts read like "XP10 beta is terrible, the fps are abysmal, it wasn't ready for release!" Not everyone is having the same issues. Take a screenshot of your average settings. Don't just kill all settings, don't just max all settings. Doing that in XP or P3D doesn't make things better. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
November 26, 20169 yr Commercial Member @murmer, please wait a week or two to mess with the clouds - Max has some changes that are almost ready to go - you'd be better off tweaking on top of his new stuff, otherwise you may get thrashed. My recipe to get fps: 1. Start with: - Turn off scenery shadow, no clouds, 25 miles vis, minimum reflections, turn off AI planes, no anti-aliasing - Set texture res to "high" if you have < 4 GB VRAM, or one notch up if you got 4 GB or more. - If you have a high-end system, max out world objects and visual effects, otherwise turn vis FX to medium (for an older GPU) or objects down (for an older CPU). Hopefully you can get 25-30 fps this way. 2. Then turn up AI planes, turn on weather - see if either of those are killer. If clouds are killer you may have to wait for a later beta. 3. Finally, if you have GPU to spare, go to full screen, raise the res, raise anti-aliasing, restarting each time. Don't bother with scenery shadows and reflections unless you have CPU to spare - you probably won't. The idea is to start at low res and work your way up until you find the limits of what your GPU can fill. Do this -with- clouds if your machine can support clouds in a window, otherwise you may run out of fill rate. Don't go to 4K on a clear day, go "I can do this" and then turn clouds on later. I'm seeing about 25-30 fps on my PC with moderate settings and an AMD card and 35-40 fps on an Nvidia card - both are older cards, but I'm running at 1080p. The machine has a Haswell i5. I'm assuming no one is complaining about fps on an Intel GPU - the Intel GPU can be made to work but it's really picky about certain settings. cheers Ben
November 26, 20169 yr agreed , very disappointed. of what i saw at a blistering 12 fps , didnt impress me that much and got a bunch of attitude on the official site for reporting terrible fps. I know its vanilla, but still. this is exactly how i felt a few yrs ago when i got xp10 and ditched it after a week. going back to p3d now which runs 4k @ 30 fps smooth as butter everywhere but in the biggest sceneries. This will/must be system dependent. On my Win10 machine, with i7 @3.50 GHz, and a GTX 770 I'm getting smooth framerates from 30-40 with the default MD-80 (a very nice aircraft for default, lots of fun) around the KSGP area, with objects to full and a few AI aircraft running around, with few clouds. Clouds, like usual, can be a big hit on F/R. Sitting at default KATL with the MD-80, with lots of static aircraft, I'm getting around 23 FPS. Number of objects set to highest. Move to next lowest objects setting (no static), I get 36 FPS (32 with static). My first impressions are really, WOW. Once things are optimized, folks coming to XP for the first time will really enjoy the default planes. Someone will make some good money learning the new sound system and linking it to the default planes to start with. I was surprised, and pleased to hear the Cessna taxiing and taking off in front of me as an AI aircraft...very fun. SO much promise--and so far, good smooth flying here. Bill Bill
November 26, 20169 yr Wow that was a ridiculously short trial period...seriously why bother guys. It took me longer to setup my joysticks than actual flying time.
