February 15, 20179 yr Thanks for your reply. I have of course read the manual and created a backup folder etc. My concern is that although the manual refers to AS16 compatibility and is specific and clear about the steps required to integrate with ASCA, there are no instructions on how to integrate with AS16. Hi Andrew, Are you looking at the latest version of their User Manual? Page 10 tells you all you need to know regarding integration with ASCA. AS16 and ASCA work together automatically so no need to meddle with the AS GUI. Set up ASCA correctly, as has been described, and AS16 will do the rest. Regards, Mike
February 20, 20179 yr What do you guys think of teh ENVTEX clouds compared to the ASCA one, I kinda wanna buy envtex, but to do that only for the sky is a bit too much, haha Seeing as ASCA has ~400 cloud textures, does envtex provide the same variety? Or how does it work together? Victor Roos
February 20, 20179 yr Side note, is there a public change log? Or only via the forum (seeing as I haven't bought it (YET!) just interested Victor Roos
February 22, 20179 yr Hi Folks! I'm exclusively flying in VR (FlyInside) and I have just deployed ASCA to my P3D sim and I must say that I am totally amazed. Please note I have never seen this before SP1. So, my current setup is AS16 + ASCA SP1 + ENVTEX ! Volumetric FOG disabled in P3D. This is crazy how this combination can make sim looking so gorgeous, natural and stil performing very good. Ehh that multilevel dynamic clouds!! I'm still having some leftovers from REX4, things like runways textures and taxi lines but this is on the ground. In the skies the clouds are playing the first guitar and this is a mind blow in combination with Really! Highly recommend this set of apps! Cheers!! O7 eMarcel Thanks for this report! I was just to write a post asking if someone already tried this combination out in VR since I too do all my flying in VR lately so great to hear your positive words  Are you using all textures from ENVTEX and in combination with ASCA textures or ENVTEX exclusively? And was there a specific reason for disabling volumetric fog in P3D? Like others I've been a bit on the fence but after all good things I've read and especially after this VR report I guess it's time to dig that credit card up again
February 23, 20179 yr @Richard Which hardware do you use for VR? Sorry for OT, you can PM me if you want to :-)
February 23, 20179 yr @Richard Which hardware do you use for VR? Sorry for OT, you can PM me if you want to :-) Hi Stefan, You can read all about my VR adventures over here in the newly created VR forum and feel free to contact me for any questions  http://www.avsim.com/topic/499023-i-just-got-my-very-own-737-800/
March 1, 20179 yr Whenever i uncheck any of the features like airport, rain, snow etc and click the install button, then close ENVTEX and open it again the option i unchecked is checked again. Is it suppose to be like that?

You can also increase the brightness and contrast further than the user interface allows by tweaking the Flyinside ini file. The light levels and colour levels doing these things is so natural the only remaining issue with VR is the screen door effect but I don't see it any more it is a non thing after a while. All the best with your VR adventures.

All the best with your VR adventures. That sounds really great! I bought ENVTEX but still has to try it out. Too much interesting things to try out and not enough time...does it sound familiar ? Very happy to hear about your experience because I was asking about this in some other thread and if there were any recommended settings when using ENVTEX in a VR environment. Questions that popped up were for example if you can use the shader mods that comes with ENVTEX (or PTA for that matter) since they are based on you having HDR enabled in P3D which you can't have when using FlyInside. Another question was what settings are recommended in AS16 when it comes to max upper visibility because someone said if using the default AS16 value the new ENVTEX sun wouldn't show up correctly. In the same discussion volymetric fog in P3D was also mentioned and that best option was to keep it disabled in P3D and then adjust the max upper visibility setting in AS16 to the max value of 200 or could have been 199...can't remember from the top of my head. Any comments on the these matters and would you care to share your AS16, ENVTEX and FlyInside settings?

But its only the checkmarks that goes back to default. Where i chose the sets for skies, water etc doesnt go back to default though.

I am using 200 mile upper visibility in AS16 along with volumetric fog on. This fixes the issue of an added visibility layer obscuring the sun and sunsets/sunrises on the ground. Setting it at 199 will activate the second layer which IMO is not working correctly and it will obscure the sky too much. I know the latest AS16 SP fixed some of the issues with visibility being set under 100 but I do not use those settings. March 3, 20179 yr 14 hours ago, WebMaximus said: Any comments on the these matters and would you care to share your AS16, ENVTEX and FlyInside settings? Hi Webmaximus I use the "Maxime Natural" shader profile ENVTEX supplies for PTA. I install ENVTEX on normal texture resolutions. My AS16 settings are all normal except I use only three cloud layers for performance and turn off volumetric fog and use the visibility settings inside AS16 (but it just a preference). In the file settings_pro_FlyInside P3D_settings.ini I fiddle manually with the lines: LightLevel = 0.4 DarkLevel = 0.4 You can adjust these values higher than you can from inside Flyinside which is limited to 0.4. If you set them higher than 0.4 for example 0.5-0.9 they will push the overall light level up but cause a loss of detail in the bright areas which go out of gamut. It is very similar to a HDR effect playing with these and the saturation slider in Flyinside. Here is a dump of the ENVTEX profile which I think I modified to turn off HDR (can't remember): [PTA VERSION] Preset format=2 [PRESET COMMENTS] Comment=Profile for PTA v2.0 and higher optimized for Envtex.~^#~^#Settings for Maxime Natural preset~^#~^#- Recommended HDR settings:~^#Brightness: 1,20~^#Bloom: 0,20~^#Saturation: 1,00 [MISCELLANEOUS_MAINCFGTWEAK] IsActive=0 Patch= [CLOUDS_CLOUD_BRIGHTNESS_TWILIGHT] IsActive=1 [CLOUDS_CIRRUS_BRIGHTNESS_TWILIGHT] IsActive=1 [CLOUDS_CLOUD_SHADOWS_SIZE] IsActive=0 [CLOUDS_CLOUD_SIZE] IsActive=0 CloudSizeHCoeff=0.5 CloudSizeVCoeff=0.5 [CLOUDS_POPCORN_MODIFICATOR] IsActive=1 CloudDistanceFactor=0.0000000005 CloudOpacity=0.95 [CLOUDS_CLOUD_ALTERNATE_LIGHTING] IsActive=0 [CLOUDS_CLOUDS_LIGHTING_TUNING] IsActive=1 CloudLightFactor=0.85 CloudSaturateFactor=0.30 [CLOUDS_CLOUD_SATURATION] IsActive=1 ShadeFactor=0.90 [CLOUDS_CLOUD_VOLUME] IsActive=0 ScatteringFactor=0.4 LightingFactor=1.10 NoPattern=0 [CLOUDS_CIRRUS_LIGHTING] IsActive=1 SaturateRatio=0.95 LightingRatio=1.00 [CLOUDS_CLOUD_SHADOWS_DEPTH] IsActive=0 DepthFactor=1.0 [LIGHTING_TERRAIN_LIGHTING] IsActive=1 SunDiffuseCoeff=1.40 SunAmbientCoeff=0.50 MoonDiffuseCoeff=0.80 MoonAmbientCoeff=0.80 [LIGHTING_AUTOGEN_LIGHTING] IsActive=1 SunDiffuseCoeff=1.00 SunAmbientCoeff=0.50 MoonDiffuseCoeff=0.98 MoonAmbientCoeff=0.90 [LIGHTING_AIRCRAFT_LIGHTING] IsActive=1 SunDiffuseCoeff=1.10 SunAmbientCoeff=0.90 MoonDiffuseCoeff=0.90 MoonAmbientCoeff=0.90 [LIGHTING_BOOST_EMISSIVELANDCLASS] IsActive=1 BoostRatio=6.5 SaturateRatio=2.00 [LIGHTING_TERRAIN_SATURATION] IsActive=1 SaturateRatio=1.10 [LIGHTING_AUTOGEN_EMISSIVE] IsActive=0 LightsRatio=1.0 AutogenRatio=1.0 SmoothTransition=0 [LIGHTING_SPECULAR_LIGHTING] IsActive=0 SpecularRatio=1.00 [ATMOSPHERE & FOG_RAYLEIGH_SCATTERING] IsActive=1 DensityCorrection=0 ExcludeClouds=1 Power=2.45 Density=0.0000000065 Green=0.040 Blue=0.100 [ATMOSPHERE & FOG_ATMO_HAZE] IsActive=1 Power=2.50 Distance=0.00000000002 DensityCorrection=1 Red=1.10 Green=1.00 Blue=1.00 [ATMOSPHERE & FOG_CLOUDS_FOG_TUNING] IsActive=1 FogFactor=0.90 [ATMOSPHERE & FOG_SKY_FOG_TUNING] IsActive=0 FogFactor=1.0 [ATMOSPHERE & FOG_SKY_SATURATION] IsActive=0 SaturateRatio=1.00 [WATER_FSXREFLECTION] IsActive=0 [WATER_WATERSURFACE] IsActive=0 ReflectionCoeff=0.40 RefractionCoeff=0.35 GranularityCoeff=3.00 SpecularBlend=1.0 [WATER_WAVESPEED] IsActive=0 SpeedRatio=1.0 [WATER_WAVESIZE] IsActive=0 SizeRatio=0 SmoothRatio=0 [HDR & POST-PROCESSING_HDRADAPTATION] IsActive=0 [HDR & POST-PROCESSING_HDRTONEMAP] IsActive=0 [HDR & POST-PROCESSING_HDRCONTRAST] IsActive=1 Coeff=0.52 [HDR & POST-PROCESSING_HDRTONE] IsActive=0 Red=1.00 Green=1.00 Blue=1.00 [HDR & POST-PROCESSING_FXAA_TUNING] IsActive=1 Preset=39 Sharpness=0.75 -
