Anyone tried ENVTEX?

Featured Replies

Question...I am close to buying this product and wondered if it replaces the sky textures in ASCA?  I am not a huge fan of the ASCA sky textures but I am willing to give this a shot as long as only the ENVTEX textures will be utilized. I always use 'Full Dynamics' in ASCA but currently have the sky texture box unchecked as I am using a fixed set of textures for sunrise/sunset and day. Thanks!

Honestly, that's probably it's strongest point right now...it replaces sky textures and sets them for the right conditions without you having to do anything.  Can't say I'm sold on the clouds but the sky textures are a big win.

Thanks for the response Greg.  So ASCA will utilize only the ENVTEX sky textures or do I somehow need to disable the ASCA sets if I'm planning to use WX generated sky textures in Full Dynamics?  I'm going to stick with the ASCA clouds as I have been very happy with them so far.

If you decided to use the ASCA integration feature, this setting option allows you to choose between using ASCA with Envtex sky textures combined with ASCA native sky textures (ASCA + ENVTEX), or using ASCA with only Envtex sky textures (ENVTEX).

Has anyone tried to compare PrecipitFX with Envtex with regards to rain and snow?

It works very well with AS16 and especially ASCA. I've noticed a big improvement using Envtex. But everyone's taste is different so to each his own.

I just uninstalled PrecipitFX to look at Envtek.

The Envtek rain looks a little too white to me.

Just going from memory the PrecipitFX rain looked better (darker).

Did not try the snow.

Sorry guys for the late answer, last week was a very busy one, but it seems that you got an answer from other users.

Thank you

In case you missed it the Hotfix 4 is available on our forum and asap on simmarket, this update brings the official support for P3D v2 and FSX:SE.

We may release a last Hotfix 5 in 2016 if necessary but now we are already flying straight to SP1 with more features, options and more work with our partner

I second that...and with great enthusiasm!! Developer support is also excellent.

I have to say that my environment really improved with this software and you get a freebie - PTA 2.0 preset from Maxime which looks absolutely fantastic and so natural.

Also, works great with AS16 + ASCA (I have disabled Cirrus and Cloud Textures).

They were running prior to grabbing the image - it was thick overcast. I was curious to see what was produced after stopping AS and selecting Fair Weather in P3D.

Mike

Hi all... really liking ENVTEX alongside ASCA!  I have seen people mentioning Maximes PTA preset...where can I find this?

Thanks!

Edit:  Nevermind, found the download on their site!

Thanks guys for your kind words, really

Support is slowing down a bit due to Christmas holidays but of course we are still working for you on some small fixes that are needed before SP1, including a clearer ASCA integration and a few minor mistakes.

I also have a good news: as we heard you about clouds, I have already partially reworked the cumulus textures that we decided to include before the SP1 to bring you better textures that should reach your expectations.

Hi Maxime - I am having some issues with my sun disappearing and the sky textures not working correctly with ASCA after the latest P3D update.  Tried to report  on your forums as I am registered but it says I do not have permissions.  Reports of others having a similar issue as well.  It appears when ASCA installs textures, something strange is happening with the sun and my sky textures also disappear.  Thanks for any help!

Update:  I have restored original textures and uninstalled/reinstalled ASCA and it appears ASCA is the culprit here.  The sun is disappearing regardless of what textures I am using.  I have posted this issue on the HiFi board.
