Anyone tried ENVTEX?

Featured Replies

You don't have to have ASCA, ENVTEX offers clouds and sky textures. In ASCA you can disable their sky textures and inject ENVTEX sky textures into ASCA.  ASCA can be nice but you don't need it to get what some believe to be the better sky textures from ENVTEX.

Installed 1.05 yesterday and the Hamburg Airport update by Aerosoft. Can't wait to finish work today and fly in the 737 or 777 out of Hamburg :-)

Hello guys! First off all, sorry about my english.
So.. I really enjoy the envtex sun. It is beautifull!!!!
I've set it INTENSE 4 and I'm using ASCA+ENVTEX setting.
But when I start ASCA the ENVTEX sun doesn't work, the ASCA sun appears in the sky and it's a ugly sun!!!
If I close AS2016+ASCA, the ENVTEX sun appears in the sky.
I want to use ASCA clouds, but ENVTEX sun!!!
How should I set ASCA and ENVTEX to get the ENVTEX sun??
Thanks in advance!!!!!

Hi marcelorochamr,

If you want to use the provided ENVTEX textures exclusively then select the ENVTEX option. ENVTEX integration with ASCA takes care of the rest. Selecting ASCA + ENVTEX does not guarantee exclusive use of ENVTEX textures.

If you wish to use ASCA clouds then uncheck the 2 cloud options in ENVTEX. However, if you have installed the latest version of ENVTEX then I would seriously consider using their updated clouds instead. They are very good. Uncheck the 2 Cloud options in ASCA but keep Sky and Cloud Structure checked.

I think I've remembered all this correctly - not at my PC right now to check. If in doubt, then refer to the ASCA Integration chapter (page 10) of the updated ENVTEX manual.

Regards.

Mike

Thanks for your answer Cruachan!!!

Problem solved by envtex forum:

Hello,

This is not an issue with Envtex, it is actually caused by the new AS16 visibility depiction.
I recommend to set your "Max Upper visibility" slider to the max settings and you'll see the sun correctly again

I'm going to try the clouds from Envtex tonight

I find that cloud shaders with Envtex and PTA 2.0 made my clouds darker at night and improved flying at night textures big time

What preset are you using? The one on their site?

Hi Eric,

I'm using Adam's latest 20_09 which, to my mind, provides the best balance overall to date....until his next Preset, of course 😀

We also provide our own weather influence so you don't need to bother doing that but it seems it has not been installed correctly. I see that you already have the SP1 of ASCA, did you run Envtex as admin? If not it probably failed to erase the native ASCA file.

Nevermind, I see that ENVTEX simply deselects the default sky textures within ASCA and does not actually remove the files.

Hi Folks!

I'm exclusively flying in VR (FlyInside) and I have just deployed ASCA to my P3D sim and I must say that I am totally amazed. Please note I have never seen this before SP1.

So, my current setup is AS16 + ASCA SP1 + ENVTEX ! Volumetric FOG disabled in P3D.

This is crazy how this combination can make sim looking so gorgeous, natural and stil performing very good. Ehh that multilevel dynamic clouds!!

I'm still having some leftovers from REX4, things like runways textures and taxi lines but this is on the ground. In the skies the clouds are playing the first guitar and this is a mind blow in combination with Really!

Highly recommend this set of apps!

Cheers!! O7

Hi Pilots,

please can some one write down how to do the Setting:

- Only Envtex - what is to check or uncheck in ASCA

- Envtex and ASCA- what is to check or uncheck in ASCA

I will fly in Only Envtex Mode

Every one write a different Setting not confirm with the manual

I use Version 1.005

I make a Registration in the envtex Forum.

It does not workt  i get no aktivation key back....!!!!!!

sorry about my bad englisch

Hello

Advice request please.

I have just installed ENVTEX, having previously used REX4 with AS16 and ASCA. I have pointed ENVTEX to my ASCA folder.

1. How do I link it to AS16? Do I simply launch AS16 and ENVTX at the same time and select Launch Sim to start FSX. This will then run AS16, ASCA and ENVTEX all together? Is there a correct launch sequence?

2. Am I correct in turning off Cirrus and Cloud Textures and Cloud Structures in ASCA if I have Cumulus and Cirrus ticked in ENVTEX or should any of these be left ticked?

Thanks in anticipation

Theres more you should do than just point ET to ASCA folder. Like make a backup folder. The manual is a very short read. I would check it out to be sure everything is done correct.

Hi Maurice,

Thanks for your reply. I have of course read the manual and created a backup folder etc. My concern is that although the manual refers to AS16 compatibility and is specific and clear about the steps required to integrate with ASCA, there are no instructions on how to integrate with AS16.

Andrew

If you have EnvTex - ASCA integration set to EnvTex + ASCA or EnvTex only , EnvTex copies its Sky textures into ASCA .

Have you set It to EnvTex only ASCA will only use the EnvTex skies.

If you have set it to EnvTex + ASCA then all are being used.

In both cases Sky Colors should be checked in ASCA.

Not checking it means no Sky Color updating.

If you want a particular Sky Color from ASCA choose for no integration in EnvTex and choose your Sky manually...
