Taxi2gate LFPG Released

Featured Replies

Good day Guys

Has any body tried Free Paris City ( freeware) by [email protected] with the new LFPG ?

(in French!!)

Beware, that's not guaranteed P3D compatible (or at least you'll have to install the files manually). There's also an issue with the autogen, that will get modified by a configuration utility that runs in the background at each FSX/P3D start-up and keep the Paris files updated in case another addon deletes them (Marc G. says it will work ok for v1.2).

If you're successful installing it please report back your findings and steps used.

Cheers, Ed

does that edit the autogen file? every time you start ftx central it replaces that file. FlyTampa had the same thing it edits the autogen file but opening up ftx central removes all those edits.

Yes, according to its author, Marc Guitteny, who kindly exchanged some emails with me months ago, the installer for the v1.2 now includes a Configuration Editor that automatically runs with the original install, that adds its specific Paris-Intramuros entries to the autogen files (I don't know to which of them, if there are several, or just the default.xml file). Also, he mentioned that every time FSX/P3D starts-up the Configurator re-adds those files again in case any other addon like ORBX's modified such file(s). In case of doubt I would recommend to send an email to Marc to ask for some guidance, he's a kind and helpful guy.

Please post back any new finding or steps used to get this scenery installed in P3D, as it was originally designed for FSX.

Thanks, Ed

The negative I have is their support is non existent especially if you buy their product months after release.

I've always received prompt support by using the Support request form here: http://www.latinvfr.org/support/

I suggest you give them a try.

EDIT:  Sorry about that, now that I've had my second cup of coffee I can intelligently offer the correct source for support, according to their LFPG manual:  [email protected]

You're very welcome.

I did a quick check on the files you'd asked about. Couldn't find any in 4096. Most are in 2048 (Terminal and other large buildings) while a few are 1024 (Signage, Ground, Grass) and 512 (Halo, Satellite imagery).

In total, there are a 108 texture sheets in 2048, 29 in 1024 and 5 in 512.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the detailed info Karan. Doesn't look to bad but 108 sheets of 2048 is a bit. If VAS is reasonable with that many I'll probably leave it alone.

VAS is perfectly fine. At the gate in the FSLabs A320 with AS16 and AI traffic I have 1.4 Gb free VAS. This is exactly the same as with Taxi2Gate EDDM which is also not a VAS hog. So much better than for example FlyTampa airports. This is in P3D v3.4 by the way.

Did they move from here?

I would guess so.

I never fly to Paris but I will give it a try since T2G EDDM is simply the best scenery that I own.

Prepar3d V3.4 // Active Sky 2016 // ORBX FTX Global/Vector/OpenLC // FSDT GSX // EZCA

Planning with PFPX and TOPCAT, flying the Aerosoft A320 on IVAO and VATSIM

VAS is very good considering the size of the airport, how busy it is with AI and the custom work like terminal interior, grass, etc that comes with it. I'd say start without making any modifications; you might be pleasantly surprised at how well it performs.

I think it's about time T2G made their own 'Configurator' app like FlyTampa, 29Palms and other developers do to enable/disable a lot of the options that come enabled as default.

Speaking of options and configuration tools, I was just about to ask if there's any way to disable 3D grass. Maybe there's some files you can manually disable by renaming them?

3D grass can be nice for small airports but for an airport of this size I think it often looks better without and at the same time it will save you lots of resources.

any way to disable 3D grass

Richard, while I love 3D grass, I think you should look for a bgl file with 'grass' in the name and deactivate it.

Maybe try this 'LFPG-LIB-GRASS'?

Thanks Rafal, will check it out once I installed the scenery.

I have his Paris scenery installed. Looks very professional.

Make a backup of your Autogen folder which exists in your main P3D root.

Make a backiup of your  DLL.xml file ( C \ Usres \Your name \ AppData \ Roaming \ Lockheed Martin \ Prepar3Dv3 )

Now you are completely save to use it.

Hi Gerard, how are you?

Thanks for the tip, good point. In addition to that, do you remember where did you point the FSX installer to in your P3D setup, or did you use the Migration Tool?. I'm concerned a bit about pointing to the main P3D directory and have the Paris files "everywhere".

Thanks, Ed

Hi Ed,

Thanks , I am fine.

As I read it you are fine too.

You can point the installer to where you want it.

In my case my E drive.

It will make an Addon folder + a seperate scenery and texture folder.

Then the Tool will be started automatically and you can choose your Fs.

Leave the scenery in the created Addon folder ; the Tool will look there for the Autogen files.

The files in the seperate created texture folder have to be copied into the main Texture folder.

The files in the seperate scenery folder have to go into Scenery \ EURW etc ( see readme )

Add the Paris scenery manually in the Library.

Startup P3D ; you will be asked to accept the Tool. Accept.

After startup from P3D shut it down.

Restart P3D .

Go to Paris and Slew till you are over the City .

You should see the scenery ( if not 1 reload will add it . Afterwards not needed anymore)

Happy flying..
