January 7, 200620 yr Guys I got some checking to do around the New York/Boston area now. Maybe I can finally find out why this area has been such a problem for me (performance wise) for the past few months... :-beerchug FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
January 7, 200620 yr I ran this program and found not real issues, however, tons of activity related to my virus scanner (Computer Associates). I ended up turning it off during my flight...although did not notice too much of a change. The question I have is this. I am running FS9 alone on the computer with all of the other programs...FSInn, Activesky, ServerInfo, Internet, etc. on a second computer. With just FS running on the main computer will turning off the virus scan really open me up to a virus...I really wonder how it would given that I am running through a router and not opening any programs (other than FS9).Mark. January 7, 200620 yr "With just FS running on the main computer will turning off the virus scan really open me up to a virus..."Mark,I have never used an anti-virus program since I began computing in 1991 and have never received a computer virus. I do have the default Windows XP firewall installed and keep it updated. I have a cable modem too which is constantly connected to the Internet. Just make sure it's turned on as a friend of mine received a virus 16 seconds after going on the Internet without the firewall turned on. Hope this helps.Jim Young

Maybe we can>get some ideas by the file names?>>Can you also list your secenery related addons in your>sim...things like mesh, airports, etc.>Hi Just a quick update regarding the cause of my frame rate dips. Based upon my location at ibiza, i've got two third-party add-ons giving me problems. Aerosoft's "balearen-gibraltar" and just flight's "roads and rivers of europe".Below is a brief, snap-shot list of some of the files that fs9.exe can't find:-C:Program FilesFS2004aerosoftbalearen-gibraltaribiza_2004TEXTURE.CAB NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004aerosoftbalearen-gibraltaribiza_2004TEXTURE030B2Su6.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004aerosoftbalearen-gibraltaribiza_2004TEXTURE003B2Wi6.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004aerosoftbalearen-gibraltaribiza_2004TEXTURE030B2Su3.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004aerosoftbalearen-gibraltaribiza_2004TEXTURE003B2Wi3.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004aerosoftbalearen-gibraltaribiza_2004TEXTURE043B2Wi3.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004aerosoftbalearen-gibraltaribiza_2004TEXTURE043B2Wi7.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004aerosoftbalearen-gibraltaribiza_2004TEXTURE043B2Wi4.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004sceneryrreuropeTEXTURE.CAB NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004sceneryrreuropeTEXTURE025B2Wi3.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004sceneryrreuropeTEXTURE027B2Wi3.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004sceneryrreuropeTEXTURE056A2Su3.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004sceneryrreuropeTEXTURE025B2Wi6.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004sceneryrreuropeTEXTURE027B2Wi6.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004sceneryrreuropeTEXTURE056A2Su6.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004sceneryrreuropeTEXTURE027B2Wi2.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error C:Program FilesFS2004sceneryrreuropeTEXTURE056A2Su2.bmp NOT FOUND Attributes: Error I've searched for the files in question and all of the .bmp's exist in the standard SceneryWorldtexture directory. However, the TEXTURE.CAB i can't find...Now, i guess i could move all of the .bmp's in question over to the required location but surely that can't be the sensible thing to do and anyway, where would it all end ??? Does this sound like sloppy programming by the third-party developers pointer their programs to find said .bmp's in the wrong locations ?Any suggestions much appreciatedGary
January 8, 200620 yr Hii also gave it a try, and its really great, i have the same FPS dips as described. Its really the clouds, always when FS9 use the folder FS9WEATHERCLOUDS the dip takes place. Also i used the regestry-monitor (same site as filemon) and found out, that the registry is looking for the PMDG 747-400 Reg and do not find it, will write in the PMDG forum. Thanks to everyone who helps to make this hobby better! Thanks for the tip!RegardsDaniel

They simply were not>there (forgotten or left out by Megascenery on purpose?). >>AlexAlex, did you try to rename any other files to "xxxhw.bmp files"? Did you find any fix for Megascenery? I'm going to install it one of these days. Thanks

What's with the Effects.cab - have not found it yet? Try on the game's CD. Ok, I've found my answer in the thread. Sorry for double posting.

January 8, 200620 yr I tried this filemon. When I run it there was a continious scrolling list of fileactvivity. But I was not runing any other programs at that time. How can you find the interesting entry among all other background activity.
January 8, 200620 yr "I tried this filemon. When I run it there was a continious scrolling list of fileactvivity. But I was not runing any other programs at that time. How can you find the interesting entry among all other background activity."To check out the results, I turn off capturing (Ctrl+E), and then scroll through the results to look for errors, etc. Once done, I turn on capturing again and monitor an activity for a minute or so then turn capturing off and review. It's difficult to review the results while the program is running. You can also save everything and review the results later. Hope this helps.Jim
January 8, 200620 yr He He He no i dont think it send something to PDGM, its just looking 100 times per second for it....strangeI also find out, that sometimes FS9 scans all aircraft.cfgs, and this causes the same FPS-dip like the cloud stuff. Is there anyway to get rid of the AI-Traffic in the menu?RegardsDaniel
January 8, 200620 yr Great find this Filemon one thing it did show up is just how good it is to have FSautostart running. Once set up and running the system activity comes to a hault, as for antivirus software its wise to have it but no need to have it on when playing a game or flying just a firewall is fine.

That way you can keep scanning while looking. After done looking turn it back on and it should take you to the last scan.
