PF3 or Radar Contact?

Featured Replies

I think now that VoxATC is in the last stages of its latest beta, looks like a good update is soon to be release. I was hesitant to use VoxATC again, but I started to and I'm liking what they have done so far, and that I can use it in P3D. Did find a glitch, but it seems like they are working on that minor issue.

Did you see any VAS impact using VoxATC?

Thanks,

No, I haven't figured out why PF3 needs so much flight plan attention to work properly whereas RC4 just figures it out.  Maybe because RC4 was written by real controllers?  RC4 may not be updated anymore, but then, it doesn't really need any patches or updates so it's a moot point.

You just didn't set up PF3 properly. You have to remember that PF3's forte is its flexibility allowing the user many different options. Set up your aircraft profile correctly and PF3 does as good as if not a better job than RC4 from an out of the box point of view. You will always need to tweak a fpl if you want perfection because the fpl software available is not as accurate as you are lead to believe.

RC4 works true, but is is so so out of date now. Most of the ATC instructions are wrong. PF3 is in continual development. Ask yourself what that means? Just a foretaste of what's in the pipline is the implementation of the correct VFR squawk codes for N. America, Europe, Australia, the rest of the World!! Only N. America and Australia share 1200!

Some folks just can't get into reading a manual....

I'm aware of just one that's out of date... "Taxi into position and hold" is now "Line up and wait". What others are either out of date or wrong?

Im afraid I do not know how that would be done.  I have checked all of the config options in PF3.  What am I missing?  I fly the PMDG 744.

Negative, none. That's because VoxATC is only controlling traffic in your immediate bubble, and not busy reading traffic files not related to the area you are flying in.

Set-up your aircraft preset on the same page that you select your flightplan. Select large runway (for emergencies), average climb rate say 2,000fpm, average descent rate say 2,500fpm, approach speed 160kts. That is the minimum speed that ATC will call during your finals. As you are a heavy hold that until 6DME then slow to your Vat+5.

By default, PF3 will give you victors. But, if you setup the star approach and want to be vectored, press 7.

What if I didn't set up the star approach but would like to have an option to choose between vectors and star, like I can in RC4 - is it possible to request star with no star preset in PF3? RC4 just let you fly how you want to, then contacts on final.

Thanks,

Dirk.

Just press 1 to fly the full approach. You will be cleared to do so.

But don't insinuate that other ATC programmes are garbage when you have more than likely not even tried them.

To simulate ATC procedures is immensely complex. Notwithstanding voices etc.

You don't know me, don't assume too much. My wife happens to be a speech therapist and clearly knows "a little" about her profession. Based on what I presented to her, from the standpoint of realism of speech, RC4 steals the show. Carry on.
