Still on Version 3.4

Featured Replies

I know almost every post on the forum is about version 4, but I think there are probably 3 or 4 of us left that are still flying 3.4 Anyway, I decided to get a new GPU for my 3-4 year old PC that has i5 CPu at 3.1 Ghz, to replace a GTX 750 Ti that is a couple of years old. I bought a GTX 1060 6 GB card, and installed it last weekend. Right now I am flying a Cera Sim helicopter, an AS 365 over  the Orbx FTX Northern Rockies Region, which looks superb, at about 1500 AGL, with most sliders cranked to the right , and I am looking at FPS of around 75-80.   To say I am a happy camper, is an understatement.

BTW, this is with AS16, soft clouds, GTN 650 x 2, UTX USA and Canada, Plan G3 moving map, and light rain with a 3,000 AGL cloud base, plus EZdok 1

Hi Bob

There is nothing wrong with 3.4 at all.i'm just one of these guys that has to have the latest version.all i can say is that V4 is by far the best flightsim i've ever had.if you are happy with 3.4 stay with it,V4 needs a little work just like V3 did when it was released.by V4.4 it will be incredible.

best wishes

Still using 3.4.  Great !!  For now if it ain't broke I'm not fixing it.  Inevitably, as past experience has shown, I will inadvertently crash everything and will then move to v4 🤣

Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.

I'm going to try and gently swing you towards V4..Autogen as far as you can see,and i have it set on High.there is a higher setting.

default setting is Unlimited frames which was a shock to me as i've always set it to 27.all this and it is incredibly smooth.

Ok you ready to move up to V4?? :-)

For now I'm planning to move the big birds over to v4 and for low and slow I'll stick to v3.4.

3.4 is running just fine and I got all my aircraft and airports ready for use, I'm not in a hurry at all, it's just for the aircraft that are VAS-sensitive, that I'm going to v4 and build it up gradually, with the release of v4-ready addons.

Cheers!

Maarten

Why don't having both?, v3.4 and v4?

Gee! A few days ago I was worrying about the XP trolls coming in here, now I have the 3.4 trolls???

 Kidding - my one attempt at humor.

HOWEVER - let's please not get into an endless back and forth about which is better, etc. Personally I am using both. I expect that I will eventually switch completely but these are the baby steps of V4.

I suggest that when posting a question or a reply that we indicate which version we're talking about, if applicable.

Thanx,

Vic

Make that 5, Bob  and at least for the time being I also have no intentions to move. I don't have all sliders maxed out, but I also don't need to. I perfectly understand the reasons for moving into v4. But also like you I very rarely encounter those dreaded OOMs.

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

My specs: AMD Radeon RX6700XT, AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, 34" monitor, screen resolution: 2560x1080

I'm still running 3.4. I haven't seen anything yet in 4 to make me switch over.

I quite like V4 ... really looking forward to the developers and LM unleashing the potential of it.

I also have both sims and uninstalling scenerys in V3 when they are ready for V4.

But V4 is really a big step for me. LOD 7.5. Crisp and visually the best i have experienced in Sim history.

My SLI GTX970 is so smooth at 25HZ 4K that i cant believe my eyes.
