GTX2080Ti @ $699 (21 billion transistors), 5120 CUDA cores, 16GB VRAM (DDR6 or HBM2), 900GB/s bandwidth ... current speculation. Cheers, Rob. On my shopping list Rob ...hoping this will also help my foray into VR
October 17, 20178 yr I fear that the next bottle neck after Volta will be the CPU. A lot of things in the sim have moved to the GPU already. But the gain in terms of FPS is only limited when upgrading a video card. Regards, Chris -- PC: Intel 13900K, Gigabyte Geforce RTX 4090, 64GB Fury Beast DDR5 RAM; Display: Varjo Aero VR
October 17, 20178 yr CPU and GPU can both be bottlenecks depending on how one configures their simulator and add-ons. But specifically for SSAA that is entirely GPU bound ... Flight sims will always require a process of "finding the bottleneck, adjusting settings to balance the loads" ... the only platform free of this requirement so far is AF2 (which is less feature rich but still enjoyable). Cheers, Rob.
October 17, 20178 yr Interesting, I haven’t kept up with the new GPU stuff, here I was about to go out and buy a 1080ti. Maybe I should wait for this 20 series card... Nick Austin

I was also thinking about purchasing a 1080ti. There's very little info on the 20 series GPUs and best guess is 2080 maybe Q2 next year and 2080ti anything up to 12 months later (based on previous releases). The introduction of DL in V4 plus PMDG's reluctance to use legacy lighting means that i'm really getting the upgrade urge from my 980ti. MSAA doesn't cut it for me even on a 4K monitor but can't go higher with DL on.
October 17, 20178 yr Commercial Member Maybe this new video card will be released by the time PD3V5 is out and we will start all over again Simbol Oficial Website: https://www.FSReborn.com Discord Channel: https://discord.gg/XC82TqvKQ3

No idea the source of the markup but it doesn't cost $528 to ship a GPU from CA to UK ... it's the exact same GPU and will work sooooo ... Cheers, Rob. I'll send you $699 and see you the day after release then Rob ;) Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS

October 17, 20178 yr The V100 GPUs are real GPUs being used by real people, the problem is those people are working with very expensive DGX-1 computers (over $100,000 for a DGX-1) .. but that's not the cost of the GPU, that's the entire computer. I believe 20xx series driver references have been found in nVidia's desktop releases. The V100 was actually 2 months ahead of schedule. However, because AMD didn't produce a desktop GPU that could beat the 1080Ti, nVidia "may" choose to sit on the V100 a while longer. Release dates I've read cover a wide range starting with October 2017 to March 2018. But the V100 is a real GPU being sold and used so it's NOT vaporware, it's just currently packed into a high end computer NOT aimed at the mass desktop market. Cheers, Rob.
October 18, 20178 yr Several posts suggesting reducing AA to increase performance but no one try reducing tessellation factor to reduce gpu load? Since it adds only artificial fidelity to the actual mesh, reduced it to far left and gained some more gpu headroom for slightly less curvy mesh. Prefer the details of what actual mesh data provides anyway so didn't feel I lost any real detail in the scenery.
October 18, 20178 yr Jeez, Rob, why you throw such unrealistic numbers in here, even if listed as speculation? I mean, even if the 2080Ti provides 100% more power than the 1080Ti this would be the biggest leap forward ever in GPU history. "2.3x Titan Pascal" is simply... sorry to say... ridiculous. This will NEVER be the case. Even if it would be technically possible, nVidia will never release a GPU in the beginning of 2018 that offers more than twice the performance of the top card from the direct predecessor generation. If they will somehow give anything about having the fastest possible graphics card, they might sell it as a "Super TITAN" for more than 2000$, everything else is dreaming... October 18, 20178 yr I am just testing a 1080TI coming from a 980TI. Maybe I should wait for the 2080TI. What to say: problem on my side (4790K OC 4.4GHz) is FPS. But as said before, you can go up with the graphics sliders, but still the problem is FPS, which requires a faster CPU which should be on par with the video card. Both VR and TrackIR require as much as FPS as possible to avoid a jerky experience. 60 fps looks best but go below and it gets more and more jerky with TrackIR and head movements.
