It’s the fact that REX reccomend to use their own weather engine to get the best results, a weather engine that PMDG dont have any motivation to interface their radar with.

Well call me  cynical  but ofc they are going to recommend their own

No didn’t they will, but hopefully some of the features that we are interested in  work with Active Sky and not their own engine. Giving up a weather radar isn’t something I’m willing to do, especially with more powerful thunderstorms being brought to the sim than ever before:biggrin:

John lets wait and see.

I will use AS historical weather and do a test flight with and without skyforce. Then again with just Skyforce. Then I will see first hand.

Until then it's all speculation. Apart from know we know the Skyforce weather engine will not work with PMDG when using their own weather engine.

Professionals find a way for the greater good.

What has been cited as the reason for this juvenile rift is completely stupid.  REX should also not be shooting themselves - and everyone else in the foot by making sweeping public statements which are not factually correct - especially relating to other developers,  which they should have the foresight to know,  they might have to rely on for future collaboration.

I guess we’ll see what happens, whether or not PMDG interface with it or not.

The lesson to be learned here is that one should never ask RSR for free copies of his aircraft:laugh:

Hi @rstough,

I want to personally say thanks for taking your time to come to these forums to give us information about your new product and to read our feedback.

Your products have always been very nice and innovative and I would like to let you know how much I appreciate all your hard work for the community not only with your payware products but also with all the freeware utilities and add-on's you gave to the community when you started.

I am sure I am not the only one that still remembers all your important input for the flying simulation environment and I hope others join me in expressing the long due gratitude for your work as being a developer myself (quite new at this) I know how important is to receive encouraging words which keeps our inspiration going and fuel our willing to continuing creating great products that a lot of people can enjoy later.

All the best wishes to you on your upcoming release.

Best Regards

Couldn't agree more.

So many people "nit pick" over minor stuff when asking the developer(s) questions it's a wonder they turn up at all in the forums.

Please be aware that the majority greatly appreciate you continuing to push the boundaries!

That will be good to hear how it does, I’m hopeful that it works without compromises with Active Sky as this would be amazing to have. Be sure to let us know of your observations once it is released as I’m sure many others will appreciate the feedback.

Depends on who you ask. For my wife, it's been Christmas since beginning of November

I'm also sometimes quite amazed at the strong bias against a new product sometimes - even in the face of a much improved experience.  But if there's one thing I've come to learn from the simmer types (me included) is that we are definite creatures of habit.

We set our sim up in a particular way, and once we like what we see,  woe betide you if your new proposed product doesn't deliver just that - and better.

'Oh and by the way, your new product can't possibly deliver anything better than I already have, It's not possible! I don't believe it!   There's NO WAY I'm giving up what I have!  It's perfect, I've never been happier - go away!  Leave me alone!.  I won't do it!'

We are a very odd crowd, to say the least sometimes.

Never have truer words been spoken!

Without having to scroll through everything, is it confirmed going to be released by Christmas or is this just speculation?

Also, does it appear this will replace AS16/ASCA/Envtex?  Or will it work alongside?  Or, for that matter, do we not know?  Thanks

Has anyone read anything from REX about them interfacing with PMDG for wx radar?

Last I heard, PMDG weren’t going to do it.

Seems like all they have to do is publish the port and API.  I mean...to be fair.

Indeed, but apparently they weren't keen on working with REX themselves. They could probably get it done in an afternoon but according to RSR, they already have enough on their plate as it is.
