Orbx TrueEarth Great Britain South Released for Prepar3D v4

Featured Replies

So the TEGB South v2 has improved a lot. I also have relatively high settings in P3D and before that in London City the FPS went down to 5 in some places. With v2 they don't go below 15 (on my system), which is a great performance considering the amount of objects. And everyone who is undecided should take a look at the ORBX-Sale (superb value for money (now)) 🎅

I mentioned earlier I use the FSLabs series of aircraft and TE GB South. I get about 30 - 35 fps now (21-24 before the update). Specs below. I dont run max settings as I dont see a difference in a few of them lol

Ark, that's very encouraging to see, I also run Med setting and FPS locked at 26, you do have a great PC compared to mine but....food for thought, thank you.

Use FTX Global + Vector for winter + custom objects from TE GB...

Gerard, I am amazed you don't run OLC euro its not only far better looking it also a good FPS gain as the Auto gen it placed far better.

Thanks, but that's the old version, Rob also has a PC very few here have if any have, so its out of date and running on a dream PC.

Hard to draw any conclusion from that apart from now nice it looks. But it was a nice watch 🙂 looks like all settings max out. We can but dream to have Rob's PC and Knowledge.

Correction, you are right : I forgot to mention OLC which I use too.

BTW : just now departed from Amsterdam and going to Heathrow ( BIG / TANE1Z ). I will pass over London 😎

Curious about the performance ...

Performance is better, still some issues though.  I can get 30fps with high res textures on and Lod radius on high, all other sliders maxed.

I dont think the building autogen looks as good as v1, maybe it was changed, all the buildings look a drab grey colour now and hardly realistic at all under 3000ft.  I'm having some tree problems as well (unresolved at present).  Colourisation is more consistent than other products, but I agree it's gone too heavy on the green everywhere.  The promo for MFS around Southampton looked much better and the buildings looked better too.  Better than Horizon, nowhere near as good as I'd anticipated.

As I understand it, performance was not that great in v1. V2 is much improved. I'd love to hear what Rob has to say about the new version.

I'm very happy with this purchase and my PC isn't the greatest. I'm confident that you can get reasonable fps, but you and only you can make the final decision.

I'm going to use the worst performing aircraft ever developed for FSX/P3D, my F1 Citation Mustang (My FAV) and I'll let you know how it performs.

BTW: I ordered TE Netherlands and it's almost fully installed. I can't wait to see how it looks and performs on my aging system.

Interesting. I never tried v1. Some ORBX EU airports need to be updated for compatibility, but overall the region looks pretty good to me.

Performance has improved a lot !

Looking great 😀

Tempted by this, though the summer only bothers me. Especially as we are about to officially start winter.

I thought about this and decided to keep FTX EU & Scotland installed. I created a scenery.cfg for GB TE & FTX EU and if I want to fly in the winter I just enable the .cfg with SimStarter. I thought that ORBX had decided to use a different technique that would save space and give us seasons. They did it for TE Netherlands. I guess they changed their minds for TE GB.

MSFS

They included seasons with TrueEarth Netherlands because it is a significantly smaller region than Great Britain. They have always stated that TrueEarth GB would be summer only, but there was some discussion about a possible "Seasons version" at a later date. However, I seriously doubt that will happen now with the new Microsoft Flight Simulator on the horizon.

Just use the scenery folder of TE and the other folders of the ORBX region, yes you lose the photoreal ground but its a good 50/50 compromise, this is what I do as well as deactivating a lot of the GA airfields to speed the scenery up

Thanks! Right now I can't stop flying here:

Given that the scenery is placed based on the underlying photoscenery, does it still look good using this method? Wondering if the landclass makes the scenery look out of place.

The autogen exclusion issue is the one that annoys me the most. It would be nice to have a list of autogen files for each airport that need to be copied across to other third party addon texture folders. Seeing large chunks of missing autogen when I am on final approach is a real immersion killer.
