How and who would using an Xbox One would want a complex flight sim??? They want arcade, rewards, challenges, multiplayer, blow things up! What do you think FSX was? It had all kinds of missions, low-realism options, challenges, and arcadey gameplay available. Rewards, career modes, and multiplayer are just this next generation's incarnations of that stuff. You could even play it with an Xbox controller and they advertised it as such. None of that means it's going to only be an arcade game. You don't simulate the entire world, Garmin 530s/1000s, include AI traffic, ATC, etc. if it's just flying around pylons for power ups. Edited June 13, 20196 yr by bonchie

One clue that it's probably going to delete the static pictures of cars in the travel lanes and replace them with moving ones is in the pavement striping in that video. Notice the markings that look kind of like markings you'd see at an intersection, but they're on a highway. There's a street going under the highway which probably tricked the AI into thinking it's an intersection, so it drew in those markings. It's probably taking streets, filling them with asphalt texture, then drawing lane markings on them as appropriate. Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light

FSX is PC only. A fully fledged flight sim adding a few features to hopefully win over a few casual users. In 2019 and building a game for a console, it has to sell and sell big. To do that FSX would not sell big. It is too much sim for an Xbox. You won't see a new FSX on an Xbox in 2020 either! Mark Daniels

Err, FSX sold big. Then bigger. It's one of MS's most successful titles apart from Operating Systems hands down. It has seven Guinness World Records. Edited June 13, 20196 yr by Guest

What about race sims on consoles? Assetto Corsa Competizione on Xbox One is going to be 100% the same as the PC version, and keep in mind that Xbox OS is UWP, its running on a Win10 core. MS FS can be developed on PC and will require only marginal changes to make it an Xbox title.

And based on this video, the topography and curvature of the runway are pretty accurate: Let's hope this will be a global feature, not something you will find in selected airports. We're in a completely different era of console and engine design. Nothing would have stopped FSX for being on a console if the engine was optimized and consoles could run them. Back then, even most PCs struggled to run FSX, so fat chance of getting it to run on a console. There is nothing inherently "hardcore" or special about any of the sims available today, they are all basic enough to be navigated and flown with nothing but a controller out of the box. The complexity comes from third party. You do realize that the reason our CPUs are being crippled has nothing to do with advanced algorithms computing flight dynamics and fuel flows right? It’s just a bunch of .bgl tiles being indexed for scenery. The actual “flight sim” and airplane systems could probably run on an 2014 ipad.

June 13, 20196 yr That shot going by the Houston Stadium in the video… How awesome are those shadows!? No jaggies or any weirdness - Best observed by watching it in motion

June 13, 20196 yr Also am I the only one here that flys with an Xbox controller? I fly PMDG with a mouse, keyboard and Xbox controller all the time and it works great. I do the same in A2A aircraft. No issues. You are kidding yourself if you think a plastic saitek yoke and those plastic rudder pedals are adding true realism to the sim. They may add immersion and fun but realism? Not so much.
