September 2, 20196 yr It has been frustrating having to wait for the P3D versions of TrueEarth GB Central and GB North, considering how long ago GB South was released. Have they even started development of these two regions yet? I really hope that they can (somehow) get GB Central done before the end of the year, because I want to uninstall PlayHorizon VFR UK Photographic Scenery England and Wales (Volume 2 and 3) as soon as possible. Volume 1 was removed ages ago. September 2, 20196 yr I've also stopped buying from ORBX. With the exception of the last two airports I own everything they have ever made. But, (there is always one of those), the absolute fiasco regarding the premature release of ORBX Central along with the increasing complexity of managing add-on scenery (not to mention the hardware requirements) has really turned me off. And, even though I own it, I have no interest at all in XP. So, time will tell. If ORBX ever gets it's act together again I may be back but, for now at least, I'm on the sideline..........Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. Volume 1 was removed ages ago. Sascha Norman together with 4 more programmers started work for ORBX on 1 September to deal with the backlog of Prepar3d (and possibly AeroflyFS) conversions. Sascha certainly is a serious and able guy, thus we *might* have some hope things will change to the better. My first hope would be them to revise GB South which I still find lacking in performance as well as visuals compared to the XP counterpart. Based on this, I can imagine them to have GB Central done by the end of this year... perhaps. I am still waiting for the Open LC Africa and Asia which are still not available. And TE products don't interest me, they take up too much space on our disks. The good thing is that orbx products can be added by XML, a lot of us have demanded this. the consequent impact is that deep manipulation of add-on.xml add-ons requrea comprehensive layer management. The only app to approach this is Lorby's AO, but this functionality should really be native within the simulator. So to blame orbx for not providing a fix to a SIM deficiency is a little wrong-headed IMHO. In a perfect world LM would buy out Lorby's app and incorporate it in the sim. I doubt this will happen so we're left with managing the impact of OC after the fact using AO. Cost isn't a massive issue for me, and to be fair the orbx Devs are doing a pretty responsive job in improving OC. Storage for TE ain't a problem either, I'd welcome a revamp and feature improvement for GBS as well as more volumes. September 2, 20196 yr OC 4 : it is understandable to be wary but I think that they are close to release the final version now.The initial release was without any doubt premature but the OrbX IT team has been rather open and forthcoming in facing the storm. The supposed OrbX focus on XP is more an optical illusion than real. In anycase, I don't see why one shouldn't buy a P3D product just because they also release stuff for another sim ? Quality ? Scenery making is both an art and an handicraft. You hit some, you miss some. The more you release, the more hits and misses.I tend to think that OrbX has many more hits than misses but I've been slow in buying recently. Do you have anything in mind that would suggest a pattern of lower quality ? I don't.. The only thing about OrbX which bothers me, is their plans to release TE regions( GB, West Coast) they have already done in the past . This is not a major interest to me. They do not seem to have thought about the consequences of the end user being unable to arrange their scenery entries in a particular order, or to enable/disable individual scenery packages as required. It is a BIG reason why I am still using the old method. Who said anything about not buying because they're also developing for XP? The real issue is that some simmers don't use XP, so anything developed for that sim would naturally be of no interest to those folks. In the meantime, ORBX development resources are less focused on P3D during this period... which means many simmers aren't buying much from ORBX now. ORBX's real problem is the ORBX Central fiasco. Using their new Central means customers are required to enter the SLTZ (Scenery Layer Twilight Zone). It seems ORBX Central was almost as well thought out as their contests. Cheers, Greg

September 2, 20196 yr As my pc’s are able to handle TE Netherlands with a lot of detail + AI + high settings in P3Dv4 + real weather I am really enjoying it. September 2, 20196 yr I have TE Netherlands but have no interest in scenery without seasons my sim is set to my PC date and time I don't see the point in flying in winter from a European airport and landing in the UK in summer. September 2, 20196 yr I wish ORBX would focus on P3D and continuing to make improvements on current products and finishing stuff like coverage for Asia, which has been promised for years now. Instead, they're wasting developer resources on stupid things in X-plane that aren't really necessary, because I can accomplish a lot of that on my own with Orthos. However, x-plane users have nothing bad to say about regions like Great Britain and the Netherlands, but I think it's happening at the expense of P3D users. However, in all reality, I think both platforms are going to get sandbagged once MSFS comes out since that appears to be giving users what they want out of the box- good weather, environment, cities, etc..., so this whole conversation may be moot at this point.

September 2, 20196 yr I have tested Orbx central on clean FSX-SE, P3Dv3 and P3Dv4. For me the solution on this thread fixed pretty much everything. Just edit the .json file and then you have to do is SYNC simulator - close orbx central and run it again. Then see your scenery.cfg This works for me as I always have global+vector+openlc installed. 1) Edit the Json File - just add the letter z 2) Sync Simulator on Orbx Central; after that quit app 3) Run Orbx central again https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/178810-clean-fsx-se-with-orbx-central-4010/?do=findComment&comment=1557873 Cheers Edited September 2, 20196 yr by Skywolf How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)
