FS related projects while you are locked up?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has decided to dedicate someone of their time to a FS project during this craziness.

I was really bummed last week due to the loss of my annual trip to Mexico with my wife. To perk me up, I decided to build a new rig. This time, however, I am going to do the build myself (I usually purchase everything and have a shop do the assembly).

My wife's job is stable (US Federal Govt), but my job is a little shaky (small tech related social enterprise). We have a toddler, so he will take up a lot of my time if my wife continues to be forced to go into work. Still, I'll need something that keeps me busy and gives me purpose. This will be even more important if we have to mothball our company. I'm already moving on this. I had to go to Microcenter to get Ethernet cable (had to run a wired connection into my wife's office - a room that is actually her closet). Came home with $2k+ worth of stuff. Place was packed like it was Christmas (kind of gross given the situation). Salesperson said new systems are blowing of the shelves.

Is anyone else taking on a FS related project during this nonsense?

Well, since I'm in China, I've already back to normal job schedule this week, let my revival some memory....

There isn't much thing in the 1st week when things are not well settled, ...but still I get some 4-5 hr flight route on 757 and 787 which I would not be able to do in working day.

Then the PMDG737-6/700 came out, Fly with it a lot and reported some bugs on it.

With KSP 1.9 out, I made a lot Helicoptors in it and send them to Duna or Eve and even laythe....

not FS related but still Sim game, I did a 6-hour continuous race with AI in rFactor2 on le-man full day circle with 4X daytime.

With logistics back to normal, I finally made my additional small main panel works :

Back to FS9 ,get recurrent on 737-200,747-200 and Tu154

Crewed Laythe round trip in KSP.

With SimAirport 1.0 out, build some nice airport, that takes me 2 full day, very addictive at short time, but not last very long.

Bought the RXP GTN750, installed on Learjet35A and learn how to fly with it, Just a wonderful piece of modern avionics!

BTW, one of my friend, live in Wuhan, without any previous sim game experience, get KSP, leant how to land and return from mun in a month, then crash landed on duna before March, and now can build SSTO with more than 10000m/s of DV..... that's some really progress...

I determined that I would make some more vids for my Chock's Hangar channel and suspecting I might get laid off for a bit, have been planning that for a while, shooting footage at work etc, so I'm currently sorting through that footage and I just finished my vid review of the DC Designs F/A-18 Super Hornet as part of that effort too.

Since I had the carrier loaded up in the sim for the last bit of that video, I tried landing some non-carrier aircraft on there too for a laugh. Here's a couple of pics of that. I call these two, highway to the stupid zone 🤣

Good idea Bob. Since hardware mfg companies  can't be bothered.    Good luck with it.

I'm thinking of building my very own ventilator, ya know, just in case the hospitals get a little overwhelmed🤨

😂

I’ve seen pics of people walking around in homemade hazmat suits. Maybe that’s what some people are doing.

If I had the time, tools and knowledge, I’d like to build my own hyperbaric chamber to sleep in to speed recovery from long or grueling training runs. 😂

As things are going, with all the zombies closing by, I focus on survivalist projects like learning how to make sourdough bread 😁

While some small market are closed because of lunar new year, and stay closed longer than normal, supermarkets never cloesed on my region

When I back home at Jan.27, farmer's market was forced to close, the supermarket are short on fresh vegetable and meat, but frozen food and packed goods were on full stock, still I got enough food for 2 weeks, just in case. Soon I realize it's not necessary.

Stil, to minimize exposure, I planed for re-supply once per week. and go out with mask\goggles, once back home, use disinfectant on cloth and packaged goods, wash hands, sterilize mask by UV light for reuse, get a hot shower, then wash fresh foods with soap....   might be some too over reaction then....but there was a report in my town a shopkeeper get confirmed that send thousands under more strict quarantine and investigation.

Small shops back to normal on 3rd week, so did the restaurants with takeout only. Restaurants are now almost back to nromal, but customer still need to keep 1meter away from each other.

Well, things are worse in Wuhan, people can only resupply by assigned distributer. One of my friend there(not the KSP one) have to learn how to deal with all the fresh foods...aka, how to cook....
