Not MS I'm talking about MS Flight SIM staying as one of the titles for future investment, and we are talking millions not just a few dollars in today studio`s, I think that's why they went to a game developer for the game console, being on XBOX was a priority to justify the investment. You seem to be forgetting the three decades Microsoft produced Flight Simulator before abandoning the title; moreover, the company is under new direction and appears to be making concentrated effort to reenter the computer gaming space. They've even revived the AoE title; they've already released a Definitive Edition of AoE 2 are currently working on a 4th title, which looks promising. From a corporate strategy, MS seems to be positioning themselves for the long haul. If we get another three decades of MSFS, that's fine by me.... Matt King
April 11, 20206 yr impact of coronavirus on simming: not much future of P3D: of the “big 3”, it’s definitely the weakest in the consumer sphere. This is the most active consumer forum, and the current tone here is actually very negative towards the sim (something i note after returning from a hiatus). If your “fans” are dissing you and talking up the competitors, you’re in a lot of trouble. Oz Sim Rig: MSI RTX3090 Suprim, an old, partly-melted Intel 9900K @ 5GHz+, Honeycomb Alpha, Thrustmaster TPR Rudder, Warthog HOTAS, Reverb G2, Prosim 737 cockpit. Currently flying: MSFS: PMDG 737-700, Fenix A320, Leonardo MD-82, MIlviz C310, Flysimware C414AW, DC Concorde, Carenado C337. Prepar3d v5: PMDG 737/747/777. April 11, 20206 yr People seem to forget that a sim platform is only as good as the benchmark of the highest quality aircraft available to fly on that platform. Yes many of the best developers say they're going to MSFS, but when will that be? I suspect for the full life cycle of P3DV5, it'll still be one of the two top sims. But I suspect more realistically, people will use at least two sims in parallel for a while. It's good for everyone One sim doesn't have to lose for life to continue - and at least two of the three sim corporations here have enough capital resource to withstand the economic aftermath of Covid-19 many times over.

I hope MSFS is successful, but never forget Microsoft is first and foremost a mass market business. If required investment exceeds likely profit then a product will be cut. John B

"Consumers" do not routinely visit forums to post good news. The current hysteria over new simulator versions is promoted by small minority, who appear to believe that once a new simulator is announced, all other simulators at once become redundant. The silent majority just keep on enjoying what they have.
