April 21, 20206 yr There is one phenomena that has occasionally happened to me in previous V4.x versions of P3D that bears a resemblance to the “invisible wall” problem. It occurs most often when flying a complex add-on airliner (like the NGX), between two airports with a significant geographical separation, such as LAX-JFK. At the end of the flight, landing and taxi to the gate are fine. Often, I want to start a subsequent flight from the same parking position. Once I have the aircraft secured and shut down, I will load the default Mooney Bravo before saving the flight, since I don’t want to save the complex aircraft as default which can cause problems. What sometimes happens after loading the Mooney is that once loaded, it will be floating 50 more feet in the air. It’s not a case of accidentally engaging slew mode. In fact, if I do go to slew, and raise the aircraft straight up, then slew back down until the aircraft stops descending, it will stop in exactly the same place - raised above the ground. Now, If I go ahead and save the flight, exit and re-start the sim, as soon as the aircraft is fully loaded, it spawns 50 feet in the air, falls, and slams into the ground. It is as if the simulator’s notion of where the surface actually is has become offset from the visual representation, at the end of a long flight, especially when using a resource intensive aircraft model and/or scenery. The difference is that in my situation, the aircraft elevation remains synced to the visual surface upon landing and taxi, until loading a different aircraft model after parking at a gate without first exiting the sim. Only then does the offset appear. Some similarities to the current problem in V5 perhaps? It does show that even before V5, the sim can develop a discrepancy between the visual surface and its internal model of where the surface actually is. I've already installed one hotfix, I'm sure there are more to come. The only 2 Flight Simulators that I ever saw that were 'perfect' out of the box both had ASCII graphics. Every other one took some time. Hehe. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440
April 21, 20206 yr @JRBarrett that is good information. I assume you have posted similar in LM's forum? For my part, I think I saw the "invisible wall" bug last night, flying a default aircraft (F-35) in a vanilla, completely unmodified P3Dv5 installation. I was flying low over a lake north of San Antonio, Texas...and hit an invisible wall. I do have crash detection turned off, and I don't know if it would have registered as a crash or not, had I had that turned on. I can't recall what the mesh resolution slider was set to at the time. Majestic have noted that they won't release their update until such time as a Hotfix addresses the DX12 issues. Not everyone will be, but I'm mostly grounded until then. Currently just installing scenery and having a general look around. But even with all these issues outstanding, i'm liking what I'm seeing. I don't get why people have rushed to install it knowing that it's got problems and they will be having to install the hotfix. Why not just wait

April 21, 20206 yr Guys, to be honest, I haven´t been able to fly again my P3DV4HF3 since yesterday. I installed my fslabs and made a short EGLL-EGGP and told myself "This is it". Since installing my P3dV5 I can´t go back, and I have hit the invisible wall like 5 times, but I know it is going to get fixed. Today I followed LM instructions fly Low to High altitude airports and so far 3 perfect landings (KIAH-KDFW, KIAH-KCLT and EKCH-ESSA) Ramon De Valencia AMD 9950X3D / 64GB DDR5 6000MHz / RTX 5090 / 1200 watt PSU MSFS 2020 and 2024

In a months time when the hotfix is out there will be 30 pages of 'Do I just update the client'. Etc etc. Just wait. Blimey Edited April 21, 20206 yr by fluffyflops

I'm itching to install but until that hotfix is forthcoming I'm not going anywhere near it makes no sense Edited April 21, 20206 yr by fluffyflops
