Love maintaining a smooooooth 30 FPS as my plane randomly crashes into an invisible wall. Thanks LM!

It probably should have been picked up in beta, but do you really think they aren't going to fix it? A lot of this antipathy towards P3D is, I feel, because everyone is expecting FS2020 to be perfect out of the box. It will be interesting to see the reaction when the inevitable bugs are encountered with that product and how the community feels about that.

Im actually still on V4.5, which as @spilok said, is great! I already bought V5 and willing to migrate, but waiting for the essentials (At least for me: Fslabs, PMDG, REX) and waiting on the release of this HF, hopefully brings better things. But for now still on v4.5

SIM: P3DV5.3 CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k @ 4.0GHz GPU: GTX1060 6GB  OS: Windows 10 64Bits RAM: XPG DDR3 1600 16GB (2x 8GB) Display: Samsung LC27JG50QQLXZX 27´

Unfortunately LM does not address long standing issues mainly ctd from settings screens and another example thats been happening for several versions the texture resolution drops down one setting each time you exit the setting screen, its performing well for me and im looking forward to it getting better and better

you might want to look into your specific setup.  CTD are very rare in V4.

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

Not that rare from the settings screens, if you push your luck in those screens when the sim is loaded it will lock and stop responding, been happening for many versions. My system is solid with the latest drivers and a fresh install of v5 and happens exactly like it did with all iterations ov v4

Not a rampant issue but i can force it to happen

If you can cause it to happen (reproduce-able error), then I would report it to LM on their forums right away.

1. I didn't say they weren't going to fix it.

2. I didn't say it should've been perfect out of the box.

3. LM rushed V5 out the door. I'm looking forward to it realizing its full potential.

I believe that is the first time I have ever seen Win 10 update and "looking forward to" used in the same sentence!!! LOL!!

Smoother performance

better fps

better visuals

Those are 3 good reasons that come to mind for me.

4.5 is smooth enough for me. The frame rate is fine. I'm into flying...not eye-candy.

I'm staying with v4.5. From what I've read there is NO reason to go to v5. Maybe sometime in the future, but not now.......Doug

Yeah, there is, with one caveat - you need system specs capable of handling v5.  A lot of people don't, and that's where a lot of the whining will come from.

Version 4.5's a slug, compared to v5, even in its virgin state.  You read complaints from early adopters like me, and guess what?  LM's ginnin' up a patch, to be here in a few days.  It won't be the be-all/end-all patch - there'll be more of 'em, like there always are...but things will work out.

But I'll say this, straight out.  The visuals of v5 RIGHT NOW are better than 4.5 ever was, and ever will be (DX12), and frame rates are head-and-shoulders better than 4.5.  Sure, 3rd parties haven't stepped up yet, but hey - it's only a week into the game.

You're "into flying, not eye candy"?  What's wrong with eye-candy?  With v5, you can enjoy both, ASSUMING YOUR SYSTEM IS CAPABLE.  Is it?

IMO, if you don't want to participate, that's on you, but you're missing out.

My biggest concern, will that hotfix cure all these CTDs which occur at various situations like "changing settings", "changing time/date", "loading into some ORBX airports" and sometimes "out of nothing". Second is the "wind directions" bug.  Third are all these incredible "long menu loading times", not to speak from the initial loading time to reach the welcome screen (> 7 minutes when AIG AIM traffic is active).

I'm not seeing that, and I have lots of Orbx working fine in P3Dv5.

So many of these "issues" reported with every new software version release are related to individual, specific systems, with all their individual anomolies and problems, not in the software itself.

V5 is great but im really at a loss why i loose over 50 % of my frame rates when i turn off atmospherics, it runs like a beast with it on

Sitting at ybaf in australia with aus orbx v2 in the a2a 172 with high settings

Atmospherics off 26 frames

Atmospherics on 64 frames

Anybody else seeing this

Thanks

You're SPOT ON.  I NEVER had any.

A lot of these hysterical complaints come from people running systems that aren't up to the task.

I thought v4 was fine, for what it was capable of doing.  But now, having tasted what v5's capable of, despite the roll-out warts and blemishes that we all expect, it's head'n shoulders above what v4 ever could have been.

But the dirty little secret is, if you wanna' play, you gotta' pay.  Don't be bringin' yo' little GTX 1070 to the game.  It ain't yo' grandaddy's sim anymo'.

Thats not exactly true im running a finely tuned i7 8700k non clocked with a asus strix 1080ti  with 32gb ram and v4 and v5 run well but i still see the occasional ctd and unexplained issues but i think given the complexity of the sim and other loads on the operating system its probably normal
