May 1, 20206 yr Just read the change log in more detail Can't see anything in the content section that makes me need to update that, so if i just do the client and scenery that should leave my planes alone right?! P3D & X-Plane 11 - Videos and streaming @ V Special 1

Yes it's a b@llache, but at least you know it's a completely clean install and any issues you might have are not related to a clash with older stuff. If you install to the exact same locale..and you didn't mess with any of the original RTM folders...you should not have to reinstall anything, other than Orbx Global. But..if you deleted all the RTM Document/v5 Add-ON...then...well...get ready to install again...

Delete everything...all four RTM entries...then..don't delete ANYTHING else...then...Run .24 Set Up...and after that...everything will be picked up, but in the totally new coded version. You do need to run, or use the Verify Files, for Orbx Global...but that's about it... Every other Orbx you installed, will be seen and loaded in by v5.24 DO NOT DELETE ANY prior RTM Folders....only the four entries starting with Scenery, Content, Client, and the one above that. When you are asked in the Client uninstall whether you want to remove the key initializing...press NO...then uninstall the Client. Run Set Up for v5.24 and after, run Orbx Central and VERIFY Orbx Global. You're done...go and fly! Edited May 1, 20206 yr by Sesquashtoo
May 1, 20206 yr I have both installed on different SSD drives only installed V5 yesterday another hour downloading again, I only had my ORBX installed not so bad. Raymond Fry.

You only have yourself to blame I didn't and everything was picked up on first run. That's assuming that after you uninstalled all the four P3D v5 files...that you ran the .24 Set Up and pointed to the same location where the RTM was sitting. If you do that...the only thing I found that I had to do...was VERIFY Orbx GLobal. That was it! So cool! Re and Re was a snap!

When I delete the AppData\Local\..\add-ons.cfg and then start the sim, P3D will let me activate two or three, then it closes. After that it will never go beyond that point, it doesn't even ask to activate the missing packages. It seems like the issue is back where empty or broken paths prevent a load - but I wouldn't swear an oath to that. Truth is, I am completely dumbfounded by what I'm seeing. Best regards Hey - it's a problem with any add-on.xml files that have the lines "<AddOn.Description />" in it!

Well, I'm gonna go with what LM says to do which is, to quote them: A full install of all components is recommended for this update. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
May 1, 20206 yr Following the ORBX instructions it says to copy or move folder into P3D v5 and verify files with OC. Edited May 1, 20206 yr by DJJose MSFS

The best way...for then you know there will be no 'blending'... The pleasant surprise, was that if you don't delete any FOLDERS...and then run the new Set Up...everything 3rdP will be recognized and loaded in. All my scenery, my planes...all of it...was seen by v5.24 What a breeze to get the v5.24 up and running...

An empty AddOn.Description crashes P3D V5 HF1. Many thanks to @fennelda and @anzac1977 for the pointers. When you remove the tag entirely, or when you add an actual description, the simulator loads fine. <AddOn.Description>Any Text In here makes P3D load</AddOn.Description> Unfortunately this situation can't be handled with P4AO currently. I am working on a new version that allows changing the package description after the fact. And that will alert you to the issue in the first place... Best regards LORBY-SI
