May 2, 20206 yr I'm hoping they will have their own way of working around the high altitude wind bug.

I suspect that Active Sky uses a custom way of interacting with the simulator’s environment that goes above and beyond the functions offered by the default P3D SDK, in the same way that high-end aircraft developers like PMDG and FSL do with their systems emulations. The wind shift bug probably doesn’t affect Active Sky. I doubt that they would preparing to release their first beta next week if the bug was a factor. May 2, 20206 yr I can't wait for AS, but at the same time I hate the thought of dialing settings back more. Hopefully it doesn't come to that. Since the bug causes surface winds to be at altitude, I'm guessing they have found a way to control surface surface winds and change them to whatever the winds aloft would be for whatever altitude you're flying at. That seems to be the logical work-around. May 2, 20206 yr It will certainly be interesting to see what performance looks like in v5 with Active Sky loaded up. I am excited to see real weather again though, my piloting skills are getting rusty with all of this fair weather flying 😉 Dave Current System (Running at 4k): ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F, Ryzen 7800X3D, RTX 5090, 55" Samsung Q80T, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, EVGA CLC 280mm AIO Cooler, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS & Stick, Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant & Add-on, VirtualFly Ruddo+, TQ6+ and Yoko+, GoFlight MCP-PRO and EFIS, Skalarki FCU and MCDU

A bit more VRAM used when there are several cloud types and layers. I’ve been flying with old school clouds. Have not tried True Sky yet since the HF came out to see if there are any changes there Jim BarrettLicensed Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic, Avionics, Electrical & Air Data Systems Specialist. May 3, 20206 yr I wonder if it would be possible to get a mix of TrueSky and regular clouds, for when they are depicting thunderstorms. Because I don't think you can have a 45,000-foot anvil with 2 cloud layers.
