A bit more VRAM used when there are several cloud types and layers. I’ve been flying with old school clouds. Have not tried True Sky yet since the HF came out to see if there are any changes there Good to know! I don't own either, have been trying to hold back on a short-term purchase decision. 19 minutes ago, Midnight Music said: What wind bug? I went into my weather tab and changed the wind at all altitudes to 0. That seem to take care of it. Makes for an issue though for heavy iron drivers that plan flights (fuel burns) based on real world winds. Once you introduce real weather, winds get put in by whatever program you use. I think it's best to start with a blank canvas as it were. You can always put in your own wind settings if you prefer. The default weather comes with its own preset winds. Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090

Have you tried to change the wind direction? I like a start mode that is fairly plain, and then add to it for different flights. I have found over time that doing a fairly simple vanilla startup mode load in is best. The sim loads better this way. Once in, I have different configurations I can choose from, depending on what I plan to do. However, I am patiently waiting for Active Sky and REX along with PMDG, FSLabs and others. Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090

Right now, well, at least with RTM, winds injection caused a CTD/Simconnect/FSUIPC issue. Since v5.24, I haven't had one yet...using the named program. I've had some pretty amazing TrueSky cloudscapes generated.

Because I don't think you can have a 45,000-foot anvil with 2 cloud layers. I haven't checked myself yet but @Rob_Ainscough recently said in one of his latest videos that the rumor about trueSKY only permitting 2 or so cloud layers is not correct and that you can add as many as you want. ... Or does that statement only refer to trueSKY in general? Edited May 3, 20206 yr by threegreen

Or does that statement only refer to trueSKY in general? True Sky itself probably doesn’t have a restriction on the number of cloud layers - I think that restriction is specific to how True Sky is being implemented in P3DV5 by LM at the moment. Since it’s still marked as a “beta” feature, that will probably change as time goes by. Apparently though, cloud layers cannot overlap. The tops of a lower layer can’t be higher than the bases of the next higher layer. I don’t know if that is a True Sky restriction, or unique to the way LM is using it. I was able to add as many cloud layers as I wanted. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 at some point. I also just posted a screenshot thread showing off the atmospherics.
May 3, 20206 yr Author The layer restriction comments come from precipitation layers, which probably isn't a TrueSky limitation as mentioned, just something LM need to sort out with their implementation. Before the hot fix, I tried to manually create 3 cloud layers in True Sky, and it would not do it, even though I was careful not to let them overlap. I don't remember seeing anything mentioned in the change log for HF1 regarding this.
