June 9, 20206 yr This one was very informative and really shows pretty much everything needed especially about flight planning is natively included, no need to have gazillion apps launched in parallel anymore 👍 Although I'm sure hardcore simmers (which I'm not) will find things to nitpick about I'm more than happy with what I saw 🙂

That's not a leak. A leak - by definition - is someone posting In-Game (Sorry, In-Sim) footage of content. I wish people would stop posting what's been officially released. This thread really is just for stuff that's been posted by people breaking the NDA who on the Alpha. It would be great if we could just keep it to that.

I wonder if Microsoft will allow 3rd party devs to sell products through their own sites or will only allow them to sell through the Marketplace. I'm not entirely sure if 3PD's feel restricted by this move but i'm in favor of it. A centralized place for addons means easier access to products, easier installation, sale on marketplace items, easier for beginners to mod their sims, and perhaps most importantly. ongoing revenue for the sim.

Not just that. MS of course takes a share on every sale. Most importantly this offers a solution to the "it will require a paid subscirption"-cult. Lot of recent games rely on ingame-shops and micro-transactions as financial model. A subscription model is very old-fashioned - even with their most prominent example, MMORPGs. Agreed, which is why I mentioned that it's a means to ongoing revenue for the sim. An in-game marketplace would mean it would be easier for the simmer to find the devs and vice-versa, which enables the volumes of transactions needed for a successful micro-transactions based revenue model. Hope this eliminates the need to rummage for addons on poorly laden websites.

Yes and I think such a Martketplace accessible in the simulator itself is a very good and modern way to make in-sim purchases that are basically activated instantly without the need to close the software, install, move files etc. ________________________________LEBOR SIMULATIONSScenery for Flight Simulators since 1998
June 10, 20206 yr Yes and some accountability and qualifying to ensure addons by devs have reached a certain standard of quality; i.e; don't crash your sim, work as advertised, are finished to degree of finished that means we're not used as Beta testers for them.

A subscription model may be old-fashioned but it's worth pointing out MS now seems to be rolling Xbox All Access subscription around the world. This covers one Xbox plus controller and Game Pass Ultimate (Xbox + PC) and is a 24 month subscription. This will also cover the Xbox Series X when it's released. At the end of the subscription you own the Xbox and controller. The UK Xbox X monthly subscription is £22 so perhaps £25 for Xbox Series X. Give people power to really test their personality.

Yeah, as part of a bigger offer it isn't old-fashioned indeed -> see Office 365, Amazon Prime etc. My guess however is, that you will not need a paid subscription to experience scenery streaming.
