June 14, 20205 yr When Forbidden Planet was released I was 12 years old. The theater in the town where I lived changed movies every Thursday and Monday. Forbidden planet was shown from Thursday to Sunday...and I went to every one of them. Robbie was my hero. I have the DVD and still watch it from time-to-time.........Doug Intel 10700K @ 5.1Ghz, Asus Hero Maximus motherboard, Noctua NH-U12A cooler, Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200 MHz RAM, RTX 2060 Super GPU, Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower, Thermaltake 1000W Toughpower PSU, Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, 100TB of disk storage. Other post-apocalyptic movies from those days such as "On the Beach" and "Fail Safe" added to my nightmares as well. There was one other post-apocalyptic movie that centered on a family in Florida who were survivors of a nuclear attack but I cannot remember the title now, and I can't locate it via Google either. June 15, 20205 yr I was pretty young the first time my parents let me watch this, little did they know that this movie would be the first time I saw a topless woman 😆 It’s a classic movie (and not just for the reason mentioned above), I recently read this interesting article on the making of the movie: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2020/may/25/how-we-made-airplane-the-movie I honestly can’t remember much about Airplane 2...I’ll have to go look it up. I'm fairly sure it was B&W, and the ending was predictably tragic as all involved succumbed to radiation poisoning. I'll keep looking for it. Fr. June 16, 20205 yr I know I've seen this movie. I've looked on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes to no avail. June 19, 20205 yr Moderator Favourite lines... "Looks like I picked the wrong week to give up glue sniffin'"; "Tell me Joey, have you ever watched movies with gladiators in?". Captain Oveur and Roger was brilliant. Johnny in the Control Tower was brilliant. The whole film was brilliant. As others have said it wouldn't be allowed today. That's why I love the 80s so much.
