Actually it's not, liveries should keep well moving to PBR. It's just FSL want to take this chance to remap some texture, as they have done before...

June 30, 20205 yr Commercial Member Please, provide more comparative performance information. Overtaken PMDG 747 ? Edited June 30, 20205 yr by BMW969 In jurisprudence, there is a principle - you look for the person who benefits.
June 30, 20205 yr Took her for a quick fly tonight (startup from cold and dark). A couple of comments: - On the ramp at default LOWW I was getting an average of 68 FPS with clear skies and no traffic. Better than v4, but this still performs the worst of any aircraft I own, and the frame rate was not particularly stable. - If you have flown this bird, you already know the good stuff - excellent sounds, brilliant systems depth. VR report: - Once I was at cruise, I thought I'd try a bit of VR flying. Unfortunately, there's a giant white square in your field of view. Pretty poor form in 2020, VR has been part of the core sim for years now, since late in the v3 era. The NGX had the same problem in the past - allegedly something to do with a light meter - but it should be fixed by now in any modern payware aircraft - PMDG at least got most of the way there, removing/fixing it for the NGXi/777/747 even though they never bothered updating the NGX. Come on, FSL, you can do better than this. Btw, if you're VR flying this aircraft the "fix" is to turn 2D panel transparency to 100%, how do you see your 2D panels then, well you don't! - Performance in Stereo mode - which you need for EA - was highly suboptimal. Frames were not disastrous, around 35 FPS, but the view was jerky enough that I could not fly with it. - Changing to single pass - the performance is acceptable, view is smooth at least some of the time. Interestingly, FSL A320 + v5 maxes out the i9900K CPU, which was running at 98-100% intermittently (at night, with cockpit lights on, but no clouds or traffic). The sim glitches when it runs out of CPU, but overall it was still quite fun sitting at 36,000 feet and monitoring the various systems. In summary, it's a bit more usable than the v4 version in VR, but it's still the only aircraft that I can't get to work well enough to seriously fly. I haven't been quite desperate enough to downgrade to the Aerosoft bus yet, but I'm thinking about it. If you don't fly in VR, you obviously won't care about these issues, but if you do then be aware this aircraft is still, in P3D v5, marginal at best for this type of sim aviation. It's significantly worse in terms of performance/smoothness than the PMDG 747 in P3D v5. Frame rate is a little lower, and the FPS still bounce around more than the NGXu or QOTS2. Whilst you may not be using VR, FWIW I can easily fly the 747-400 in VR mode, but the FSL A320 is - as per my comment above - unfortunately still a no-go. You can grab the white big box in vr with your mouse pointer and make it so small you can not see it anymore. Grab the edge on the corner and strg + mouse move smaller till it is disappeared. That should keep your 2d panels untouched and usable And I am clearly seeing exact the same performace glitches and also struggle in vr with the fslabs. I find it still the heaviest plane for performance and in vr less joy. I will get the aerosoft a320 a321 pack for vr. Marcus Edited June 30, 20205 yr by mpo910 Regards, Marcus P.
