Just wanted to take the 747-8 for a spin. It's completely broken. The autopilot doesn't work at all, and everybody is dead now.

Asobo did a good job 👍 but I agree the AP is terrible in the 747... but I guess I'm used to PMDG.

Must be very confusing for new users who don't know how much more tolerant & "safe" a real Boeing AP is.

It's interesting that the gauges are html + css + javascript... Presumably some people will try and tweak the AP behaviour, or even write their own implementation of the AP.  Community content maybe? 🤔

Specs: 10900k at 5.0GHZ, 2080ti, 32GB 3600mhz, 3440x1440 34” ultra wide.
Custom loop so temps don’t break 55c on cpu and 45c on gpu

FPS, At KLAX in A320 I get 20-28FPS on Ultra and turning it down to High or Medium does nothing.
All AI traffic turned off etc.

Plus this sim only looks decent down at 5000ft or less. Once you get above that the LOD sucks big time even with 1GB internet so I should have no issues

Hmm interesting , me thinks I’ll be staying with P3d fir a while yet.

mike

When I tried them, the default a320neo  and 747 had quite a few inop switches, and the fps was like 48 on my gtx 980. I found that my fps is better in the air than on ground

I'm also on a 1080Ti and noticing the stutter/jittery performance. Thinking it might have something to do with the 2-series Nvidia cards being better optimised than the 1-series. I've noticed the same for videos posted online.

I installed today (Thankfully through Xbox Game Pass) and can certainly agree with the OP. General aviation is not too bad but the A320 Neo is just a stuttering mess where as I can get a solid 60FPS in the FF A320 with my system (Specs below) Because I am only using a 1080P 42 inch TV achieving as close to 60FPS that I can helps with fluidity when changing views inside and outside the aircraft.

Admittedly I did not get anywhere near as long as I would have liked to test further but I do not think I will be deleting my X-Plane 11 & Ortho4XP installation anytime soon.

Tomorrow though is another day ....

What a shame they released the sim in this state.

After all this time i was smart enough to educate myself to know that for example the 747-8 was NOT a complete package like pmdg and i for the life of can’t understand why some are making a really HARD effort to ignore the fact that this was known. I already gave this big jets a try and I m completely ok with they way they are . Did i miss announcement where asobo and ms said that they were including pmdg level ac ????? If that was the case and they were at 150$ Each  than ill be mad but thats not the case at all its a work in progress.

Agreed airliners sadly need some more work especially on the Autopilot side and the 747 still climbs and descends at random.

Your'e so right...It's so ironic that in the last Asobo dev video they openly state it wasn't their aim to make any aircraft PMDG level simply because such 3rd party devs are experts and to match that would take years. They want 3rd party devs involved as part of the sim community and have great respect for them.

Asobo's aim was to build the best sim platform they can make as that part of the "puzzle" falls to them and only them.

I had no issues with the Cessna 152 but when I took the 787 out for a spin it was difficult. I think my issue is that I need to learn how to properly set the sensitivity and dead zones for my controller. For instance, I was having problems turning sharply in the 787. I also need to figure out how to set the cockpit viewpoint because I could barely read the numbers. One thing I like is that I have installed the sim on two different computers and it saves my settings from one to the other. I find that to be very convenient and surprising. No performance issues as far as stuttering or the like. I can’t wait for a payware quality jetliner. By the way, how do you see the frame rate, etc? Shift + Z didn’t seem to work. Also, when I hit P it didn’t pause the sim. I must be doing something wrong. Anyway I assume this will keep getting better over time.

Reminder that they had NO feature discovery series on the airliners and their avionics. That was for a reason. They still need to fix any remaining AP issues and make the G1000 more feature complete.

Window +G keys to get fps...it's doesn't have the same in game info using Shift+Z as FSX/P3D

I'm assuming you've read RR's thought's on MSFS then and like you I cannot wait to have to PMDG aircraft in this sim based on Robert's description of the dev's willingness to help each time they were contacted.. Often I'd go to the CDU of the 747-8 in MSFS expecting to set up the push-back, fuel etc... etc..only to realise "nup that aint' gunna work..."

I'm downloading now but after using the alpha for quite some time I do somewhat agree that there are unfinished items in the release version....but much has been improved.

As for the airliners that's no surprise....they're default aircraft!  We'll have to wait for 3rd parties.

We should not have to wait for 3rd party! Airliners in there current state don’t hold a candle to anything XP11 offers with their simulator.

since I classify this as a game I’m not expecting much better.

the stock XP11 G1000 is light years ahead of what this product is trying to implement!
