Real World Weather...

Featured Replies

Guys,

I had very few time to test MFS after this initial public release, but first time I did it looked to me like Real World Weather wasn't really syncing with what I was getting from METAR and Meteoblue charts...

Well, it turned out to be my fault !

I was forgetting to actively select the option on the environment menu. If one doesn't click over it until the "v" mark appears, weather will revert to default previously selected or Clear Skies by default.

Have now finished testing at 10 airports all around the World and it looks OK to me.

I've done this too but it doesn't seem to work here.  Sometimes I'll get clouds that appear accurate but the winds are always 270 at 4.

The cloud depiction looks fine but the winds I'm not so sure. I got 3 kt wind everywhere I go, except my last flight at Panama where I got 10-15 kt winds and also turbulence

This seems to apply to about 90% of the complaints people have. Glad you figured it out.

How do you see the current weather conditions in the sim? I really could use some kind of gauge to tell me the current conditions (cloud coverage, wind speed/direction, altimeter, temperature etc).

I’ve noticed that when selecting airports this is the usual wind information that is given but I don’t think that’s what ends up being in the sim (not always at least).  I’ve had that happen yet in sim there are definitely different wind conditions happening based on the windsocks I see.  Definitely requires more investigation.

ATIS/AWOS are the bigger issues for me, they never report the conditions that I see in the sim.

Can you point to where there is a "environment menu"?

Live weather is broken and Asobo are working on resolving the issue.

Thanks,

Robert

For all the positives I speak of in the sim, the real world weather is borked...and it's frustrating.  The best I can recommend to anyone is to file a report with MS and include documentation...screenshots, METAR data etc.

Which V mark? and which environment menu? I bet I'm doing something wrong becauserr live weather gives me clear skies 50% of the times where it should be cloudy.

Yearh - I'm not sure how it works...

I found out, that you can (completely) break Live Weather, by pressing ALT + ENTER (go to Windowed Mode) and back to Full Screen again, and then start a new flight. After this, Live Weather will show Clear Skies all the time. Only fix (that I've found) was to shut down the sim, and start again.

For sure.  I love looking out the window and then flying in what I see.  I’ve been sending them bug reports as I see issues.

Where did you get that info? Is there a blog updating or something?

Is anyone else currently experiencing the global absence of weather?

I just fired up the sim twice and on the globe there are no clouds at all and no matter where I look, it's all clear sky.

First I checked whether I had switched off the display layer but not, it is on.

I just landed Fuerteventura. There were clouds and 23kt wind at approach.
