Asobo, Acknowledge Our Bugs & Issues!

Microsoft's goal is to attract tens of thousands of casual simmers and/or newbies who want to get into this hobby.  In this respect they are succeeding brilliantly. They couldn't care less about the handful of whiners and complainers on forums such as this.  Suck it up.

Aviation geeks fly you to visit your father in his hospital in Florida after his heart attack. Aviation geeks fly you to your daughter's graduation from college. Aviation geeks fly you to your vacation in Jamaica. Aviation geeks.....

That is only somewhat accurate. If it were entirely accurate, we would have simply been presented with a modified v2.0 version & "reincarnation" of the 5-month only, Feb. - July "Microsoft Flight" fiasco of 2012.

Actually, Asobo does not have a customer base at all. Microsoft has. In this case, Asobo has 1 client, Microsoft, and we are all Microsofts customers.

My comment simply referenced the original quote of another. Although you did not quote the original comment which was actually made by another,  Hair well-split!

Now, as to the actual substance of the comment.......................

Btw: Correctly written, your comment should read ".. and we are all Microsoft's customers." But then again, who is splitting hairs?

That ' dropped off, as I'm writing this on my mobile.

Let me start off by saying that I’m pleased with the content of the upcoming patch. I’m glad that those who have struggled through installation issues will finally be able to join in, and starting next Thursday I’ll be able to fly on VATSIM, which I’ve been waiting for since release.

However, considering the glaring number of bugs and issues coming up, I wish Asobo would at least acknowledge their presence and let us know that they will be worked on soon / what their priority is. It’s unacceptable, in my mind, that a core feature like weather is so horribly broken in the sim and no official word has come from the developers that they even know it’s a problem.

I wasn’t expecting an immediate fix to live weather in the upcoming update (nor were many people), but we were expecting some acknowledgement of the issues we are experiencing, because they aren’t trivial.

@FlyingInACessna I couldn't agree more:

Calm down people, take a break, grab a beer.

Can someone tell me what sim has ever been released with a "bug or two"??? NONE, that I can remember.

The sim hasn't even been out for a week and here we are, throwing stones at Asobo/MS. give them time to iron things out.

What's the point of complaining if we all knew (from past release experiences like FSX, Flight, P3D, XP) that sims have always been released with lots of major bugs. I for one have been enjoying site seeing with breathtaking scenery, will continue to do so while Asobo works on the shortcomings.

So you disagree that they should even mention that they know about the other issues? You think it’s better that they act like they don’t exist? I’m not saying a fix has to come soon because I know it’ll take time - I’m saying that if they’re making a known issues page that covers all issues they are supposedly aware of and it doesn’t say live weather, then that’s a problem.

They have mentioned that they're aware of the other issues and are assembling the development schedule. A public known issues page would be literally hundreds of items long at this point. It serves no positive purpose that I can see, other than to give more negative people things to complain about as they won't really grasp the complexity of such projects. Again, the example you list means they'd have to respond to the litany of items that occur on such releases. I'd rather they spent their time actually fixing them. Asobo is aware of the weather issues because many of us are submitting those bugs to them via Zendesk and the beta and alpha testers did as well. To assume they don't know, I've covered. It assumes they're literally blind, incapable or dishonest. I don't believe any of that.

i7 8700K @4Ghz, EVGA RTX3080 Ultra, 32GB RAM, Two 2K displays. Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle Quadrant, CH Pedals.

I would just note that how many software development projects are y'all aware of, outside of open source projects, where you can see a complete list of outstanding bugs? There's not many---it's just not done. Once you, as the developer, start telling the client all the outstanding bugs, what happens is the client is going to immediately start disagreeing with how you're prioritizing the bugs. Heh, this is already happening as each of us are listing the bugs affecting us as the most important.

We can't see inside the project to see how it's structured; perhaps they need to take care of A because it will make changes on B easier in the future. It's not great to armchair quarterback the development process. Instead, let's focus on finding and reporting as many bugs as possible so they can then have things that need to be worked on. Submit feature requests. Submit items where something isn't quite right. Let's take control of the one thing that is under our control: the feature/bug reports we submit to Asobo.

They've been at home for 6 months. Take off and get away from their family? 😉

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Flight Simulator support today.

We are planning to have discreet World Updates that focus on a specific region of Earth. The current plan is to do this every 2-3 months.

In order to really celebrate that particular part of the planet we are updating, we are also planning on creating some new hand-crafted airports, some new POIs and we will also attempt to provide some more activities … like landing challenges.

We are very excited about this as it will – over time - spotlight all regions of Earth, which we hope will bring focus to areas that might not be a current aviation hub.

Kind regards,

Even if they're working from home, working on a software development project is not going to be a picnic or vacation. They need to be able to take a break and recharge their mental batteries so they can look at the problems afresh. As a programmer, we often push ourselves to keep working because we can't figure out a bug. But what we often need to do is take a step back, sleep on it, do something else, and then suddenly we'll think of the solution.

Also, in France, they have a different expectation around work-life balance than we do in the United States. For example, employees have a "right to disconnect," that is, a right to not check work emails when not working (https://money.cnn.com/2017/01/02/technology/france-office-email-workers-law/index.html).

I got the exact same response in my request for SDK tools to edit existing airports.
